Yes, I have never liked that the various Linux distributions unilaterally made parts of Sigil optional. As long as we handle it properly in our AppImage, then I really do not care much about what the Linux distributions decide to do. It is their bug if it fails because of changes they decided to make. The days of disk space being in short supply are long gone. General Plugin support was never to be optional. And Sigil already uses lxml and other python pieces on boot.
So I say we make it a requirement and let them deal with it. Last edited by KevinH; 09-18-2026 at 03:35 PM. |

That's fine with me. As long as it doesn't crash, I'm fine with telling people to install Pillow if they can't save Adjustments to gifs. I honestly doubt there'll be too many people editing gifs from within Sigil, though.

Sounds good. I will add the required code using try blocks and return the save failed if pil does not exist. That way they are no worse off then they are now.

Okay, I have pushed using python PIL to augment AdjustImage saving gifs to Sigil master.
Please give it a try and note, it only works with static gifs not dynamic ones. |

To simplify keeping my test builds links up to date, you can find the latest test build for Windows in the Downloading Sigil test builds for Windows thread.

Is it possible to have the 'Zoom to Fit' applied to each tab independently?
That would make it easier to compare two images each in its own tab with 'zoom to fit' enabled. At present, the 'zoom to fit' has to be reset when switching between tabs. |

Zoom to Fit (and all zooms) are tied directly to the main Sigil Zoom Bar that has always been shared across all tabs. That Zoom Bar is used by Sigil, Preview, and all tabs.
Changing that after so many years is quite iffy. It would be better to zoom out to a level that works for both images (either using the Sigil main Zoom Bar or the controls inside AdjustImage) if you want to see both fully at the same time. |

Another approach is to use the View Image instead of opening a tab to see how they would look inside a browser window or use Open With to open those images in a second application whose Zoom is not tied to the Sigil Zoom Bar and can then be set independently of each other.
