They were always decimal. Purely Computer Memory that used erroneous 1024.

On many file browsers you can choose true 1000 multiple or the Memory originated 1024 (Address lines 8 = 256, 9 = 512, 10 = 1024. Early RAM was called 1K but was really 1024).
K was 1000 before computers existed!
