I'll just read the web version.

Does the Kindle version not have the intelligent-panel navigation? That will maximize each individual panel and let you swipe between them.

It does, but I'm using an iPad Mini. A page per screen would fit this display nicely. If it weren't available online for free, I'd probably use the panel view.

There are various first issues that can be read for free, but online, @ Image Comics: https://imagecomics.com/comics/read-first-issues
Thought that it's possible to search the same titles on Google Books, and download as an epub or pdf, for $0: e.g.

*while adding the books onto the Google Play personal Books library, it's then possible to export the comics as a pdf or epub).

Hello Sunshine (A Graphic Novel) by Keezy Young is $2 in the US (Kobo, Amazon)

Quote:

An Eisner Award Nominee

In this lush and romantic queer horror graphic novel, a troubled teen disappears from his small town—sending his loved ones on a paranormal journey to bring him home.

Noah is heartbroken. He returns from Bible camp to find that Alex, his secret boyfriend, has had a breakdown and disappeared. He wishes more than anything that he hadn’t left that day.

Sky is determined. She’ll stop at nothing to find her childhood friend, even if it means alienating the people she loves.

Izzy is ashamed. She knew something weird was going on with Alex, and she didn’t say anything to her boyfriend, Jamie—Alex’s twin brother. If she had, would Alex still be here?

Jamie is angry. Angry at Alex for being gone, angry at himself for not noticing something was wrong, and angry at his long-dead mother, Desdemona, who had problems of her own.

But what if there was something more to Desdemona’s demons? Why is Jamie seeing her ghost? And can he get past his hatred of her if it means finding out what happened to his brother?

OPUS: 25 Years of His Sunday Best by Berkeley Breathed is on sale for $2.99 for the next 10 hours at the time I posted this.
This book/ebook was published by Little, Brown and Company in 2008.
It was not on sale at Kobo US when I checked.

There's another book that looks kind of similar, but I'm not sure about the overlap between the two.
OPUS by Berkeley Breathed: The Complete Sunday Strips from 2003-2008 (link to hardcover) by Berkeley Breathed published by IDW Publishing in 2012. I purchased the ebook version of this one years ago, but it looks like the IDW-published Berkeley Breathed ebooks aren't available anymore, at least from Amazon US.

Other than the Batman comics Humble Bumble's doing, there are some for free on DC's site (within registration): https://www.dc.com/
If I understood it gets the comics into "UNIVERSE INFINITE mobile app" on Google Play or Apple Store.

As far as I could tell, is uses DRM.

I got an email from Iron Circus Comics - I bought some of their folk tales series in a Kickstarter. They're working with a new digital comics platform called Sweet Shop, and their titles are currently each USD $1 on the platform for a limited time.

The FAQ at Sweet Shop says titles are available as DRM-free PDFs if the publisher implements it, so it may be an option to consider for some indies.

Apologies for the barebones info, but MobileRead doesn't currently like my ISP/VPN, so posting is complicated.

I meant to share this earlier. Now there's only a week left. But Humble Bundle has the complete Astro City (plus a few extras) on sale for $18. That is a tremendous deal for one of the best comic series I've ever read.

I don't even like superheroes. But Astro City is something else. Sort of like if Marvels (also written by Busiek) was an ongoing series or if Winesburg, Ohio had superheroes. Each issue is generally (but not always) a stand-alone story with a different POV character, sometimes a superhero, sometimes a civilian. There's not really an over arching plot or even a main protagonist.

Aside from Astro City, there's a few other Busiek odds and ends: Arrowsmith, The Autumnlands books 1 & 2, Free Agents and Superstar.

Note that Fanatical had an Astro City bundle, but it had the "Metrobook" omnibuses, so if you got that, I don't think there's anything new in the humble bundle.

Thank you! I was sure I had seen an Astro City bundle before, but couldn't find it.

I do think the other things (Free Agents, Autumnlands, etc) are new. They aren't part of Astro City.
