Slightly less than 43 cents each!

An incredible bargain.

It's only a bargain if you actually read them.

I've held off for now. Ignoring the books I already own, I didn't think there was much that I would read in the near future, if I put it up against all the other stuff I already own and haven't read.

I saw that one, too. I have to plead ignorance on this author: I know the name very well, but I've never read anything by him.

He wrote one of the seminal pieces of the Star Wars expanded universe, the Admiral Thrawn trilogy. The character was so important that they re-introduced him after Disney took over the franchise and even put him on screen.

I hate to throw a bucket of cold water over this discussion but if we look back to 2026-Sep-1 in message #64 in this thread, Yapyap posted about the Timothy Zahn bundle and I posted my opinion about the bundle in the next message which I will repeat here:

Yeah, I hear you.

I ended up passing on the C J Cherryh bundle. As I need a new PC a whole lot more than another big batch of books that I might or might not get around to reading, at my age. Perhaps they'll do another in the future, if not, I'll live, one way or another. I enjoy science fiction, but I enjoy mysteries even more.

The newer bundle is not the Zahn bundle but the Joe Haldeman bundle. 17 books, including Forever War. Available in the UK, where it is £13.37 for all items; don't know what that is in dollars.

Quote:
The future worlds of Joe Haldeman

Meet one of the masters of science fiction in this collection of books by the one and only Joe Haldeman! See where it all started with his Nebula, Hugo, and Locus Award winning novel The Forever War, a drama of civilizations trapped in interstellar conflict! Embark on a nailbiting trip to the surface of a future Earth threatened by a terrorist plot in Worlds! Follow an intergalactic spy wracked with guilt over dangerous missions in All My Sins Remembered! There’s even more to explore in this bundle of 17 of Joe Haldeman’s greatest sci-fi stories, so grab them now at the price of your choice and support Active Minds charity with your purchase!

Another one I will probably pass on, although it looks fairly decent. I already have too many of them. It would probably be cheaper to buy the best of the rest separately.

They occasionally bring bundles back for a day or so in the run-up to christmas. I ended up passing on the Cherryh too, since, for me, it involved lying about my location and I just couldn't be bothered. And it was mostly about back-filling my library with books I've read but don't own, or don't own digitally, and I didn't think I'd re-read any of them any time soon.

Ah, another Baen bundle with what look like additional public domain reprints. I already have a lot from various Baen CD-ROMS - at least 22 books, half never read as they're mil-SF which I'm not that keen on.

Of the newer titles, there's only 6 I'm interested in... Unfortunately, it's not a build-your-own bundle.

Pity...
