With permission from Satsuoni, I started using a python script as a wrapper for K4PC (since Jul 2025) and eventually also for MSIX and Android Kindle app versions.

Now I have merged them into a single app (spares user having to install python), makes it much easier to maintain (for me) and allows me to help other users troubleshoot when they can't get Satsuoni's tools working in their setups.

It may not be as fancy as what Epubor may provide but is functional for non-techy users and there is no fee to use it.

I made this ultimately for me as a one click, Extractor + Import (To Calibre) + Convert (Using Calibre and KFX-Input plugin).

This is overkill for sure, 100% not needed, but some may find it useful.

What ppl may not like:

Needs registration on blog (free, no ads, no mailing list, no contact from me, not selling email addresses) (This prevents unwanted bots scraping the site, specially for Amazon related content and reduces Hot-Linking ).
Uses email to activate app (App talks to my server and allows to serve the correct Satsuoni extractor needed by the user, as well as provide updated extractor when released, also missing DLL's when needed for Fallback)

Hi there! I just tried importing De_DRM.zip with the "load plugin from file" option in Calibre and it didn't work.

I was so happy about this, registered to your site, read it all... only to realise I have Win 10 with no TPM available on my motherboard. Is all hope lost for me?

It has been quite a while since I've purchased anything from Amazon (due to their increasingly abusive behavior to customer, and now to authors), but I do occasionally grab free books. Over time, importing them into calibre has become harder and harder until it just stopped working with with win10 and old k4pc. While I've kept up with the DeDRM stuff and knew that if I really wanted to, I could probably convert one that I really cared about, the complexity was such as I was not willing to put in the effort.

Even though the directions for your method was more than I felt like reading, it turned out that a quick scan and a halfhearted effort at installing the program and paying just enough attention to figure out where the kindle app was storing things was all it took. Very nice. I now have my backlog of free books ported into calibre.

While it may not be "needed", it was much appreciated. Thanks!

I successfully used the Satsuoni/MSIXKFXArchiver from the DeDRMtools v10.0.29 archive on ebooks downloaded using Kindle for Windows (v1.0.22326) several times and it worked great. Tonight, I tried again on som edifferent books and it didn't populate anything in the Archived_kfx directory. I ran it in a terminal and it LOOKED like it was doing it's thing, but it kept saying "Book opened, but no book keys detected..." I downloaded and tried the latest DeDRM version 10.0.32, but I get the same thing. Am I doing something wrong or is it just broke already?

Usage: executable [kindle documents path (with _EBOK folders)] [output folder] [output k4i file] [folder with dlls(KatxopoApp)] [k4i/keyfile file, k4i/keyfile file...]-> all parameters optional
Defaults are, in order, contents folder of the app in %APPDATA%/Local/Packages..etc, archived_kfx for folder and oldbooks.k4i, and books.keyfile for keyfile. Files with keyfile extensions are considered keyfiles, other ones k4i
Defaults for folder with dll does not exist/ is installed dir
One can use "default" to fall back to default value, so don't name your file default, I guess.
Output folder will be created. Output folder will contain kfx-zips after running, hopefully. Those can be imported with KFX Input plugin into calibre
This program searches for Kindle executable in registry, run it from wherever, and it should work. Probably.
Please ensure that KindleReader UWP app is of the appropriate version (currently KindleReader1_0_15230)
In case Kindle version does not match, it would exit, probably
Note: to get proper values into k4i file, at least one KFX book that uses account secrets should be downloaded. If resulting k4i has no tokens set, try downloading some free books.
Note 2: this utility creates a temporary C:\Data folder, where it copies all the files necessary for its function, including large portion of of the KindleReader app, so about 400MB of space is needed. Folder can be deleted after use.

Now I have merged them into a single app (spares user having to install python), makes it much easier to maintain (for me) and allows me to help other users troubleshoot when they can't get Satsuoni's tools working in their setups. It may not be as fancy as what Epubor may provide but is functional for non-techy users and there is no fee to use it. I made this ultimately for me as a one click, Extractor + Import (To Calibre) + Convert (Using Calibre and KFX-Input plugin). This is overkill for sure, 100% not needed, but some may find it useful. What ppl may not like: Needs registration on blog (free, no ads, no mailing list, no contact from me, not selling email addresses) (This prevents unwanted bots scraping the site, specially for Amazon related content and reduces Hot-Linking ). Uses email to activate app (App talks to my server and allows to serve the correct Satsuoni extractor needed by the user, as well as provide updated extractor when released, also missing DLL's when needed for Fallback) Attached Thumbnails
