My kid has a problem. We have the same set up, sort of, both running Win 11, Calibre 9.15, FFF latest test version. And the kid can't download and I can. I dragged my laptop upstairs to compare settings against the tower system. The settings appear identical in everything we used. The kid gets this error:

I asked for a debug log and will pass it on when I get it. In the meantime, anyone have any ideas? We did try uninstalling and reinstalling Calibre, it was the first thing tried.
I tried for a debug log on my system, but that story downloaded fine for me. And it's apparently happening on the kid's PC with every story where FFF download is attempted.

Mistake in setting browser_cache_path is the only FFF thing I can think of. But I thought I had better error reporting than that.

Without a debug log, I'm guessing, though.

For what it's worth, these are my AO3 settings in the ini. FFF opens the navigate/TOC page then the usual fic link, so just two pages.

Ok, so i've got a custom column setup for ratings with the look up name: rating_label , and type as "Text, column shown in tag browser". And under the FFF custom columns, it is set to 'Rating'

In the personal ini, I have it set to some what normalize the ratings across sites.

replace_metadata:
 rating=>^(G|K|K+|Fiction K|Fiction K+|Everyone|General|General.*)=>General
 rating=>^(T|Teen|Teen.*|PG-13|Fiction T)=>Teen
 rating=>^(M|Mature|R|NC-17|Fiction M)=>Mature
 rating=>^(E|X|XX|XXX|NC-18|Adult|Explicit|nsfw|NSFW)=>Explicit
 rating → #contentrating

The issue is up until a few days ago, this was working fine, but for some reason now, it is not. And I have a feeling I've misplaced something or changed something by accident. Any advice?

You likely also want trailing "$" on your regular expressions.

That's too vague to say anything meaningful. If you want help, please provide:

• A detailed description of what you want to happen vs what you see happen.
• Some sample story URLs that exhibit the problem.
• A 'Safe' copy of your personal.ini, preferably wrapped in [spoiler][code] tags, or attached as a txt file if large.

That's what did me in. Replaced the → with =>, and added the '$'. Not quite sure how I borked that. Thanks JimmXinu!

First I suggested checking where she told FFF the cache was against reality, and to stick to archiveofourown.org. She tried again on a three story download. Debug log attached. Two worked, one didn't.

I tried going through it and didn't see anything obvious. We might have fixed what we could, but I'd appreciate other opinions. I only sort of speak code.

PDF is a poor format for this, BTW.

I did a simple Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C, switch app, Ctrl-P to copy-paste the text into a text editor so the lines wouldn't be wrapped and your black bars over user/pass disappeared leaving clear text for me to see.

This has happened many time to businesses and governments with confidential and even classified documents.

I deleted the PDF for you before anyone else downloaded it, in case you don't see this right away.

I'll comment on the actual problem, but I wanted this out right away.

This is happening with https://archiveofourown.org/works/79755636 in the bookmark handling code.

For some reason, on only that story, the tag that normally contains bookmark info is missing--even though it's usually there regardless of whether the story is bookmarked or not.

I can allow for this error, but I'm still researching why it's happening. And it looks like AO3's bookmark HTML has changed.

In the meantime, set always_login:false to skip bookmark processing.

I will also add code to automatically remove user/pass from INI snippet log output. I did not anticipate anyone putting those in INI snippet.

- base_otw_adapter: More robust bookmark handling


I still don't know what's going on with Elaine T's issue, but I've worked around it by making the code less brittle if that tag is missing. Unsurprisingly, collecting your Bookmark Tags for that story will be empty if the HTML tag that contains them is missing.

(And I was wrong--the AO3 bookmark HTML didn't change.)

-When a fic/book is downloaded, it unifies the rating under one uniform tag for a custom column. -What is happening is the tags are not being overwritten and still use the source labels for the content.

Not sure why you have multiple replace_metadata in the ini, you can place them all under add_to_replace_metadata.

And "rating=>#contentrating" should be on custom_column_settings, not replace_metadata.
