That's what I didn't notice at first. I thought it was a list of extensions you did want to load but that turned out not to be the case. Since they were all checked by default, it would automatically load nothing. Once I read it closer and realized what the setting actually was, I unchecked PDF and EPUB and they automatically loaded the ebooks perfectly, moving the ebooks into the Calibre Library and deleting them from the folder that I place ebooks that I want loaded in Calibre.

A win due to a satisfactory conclusion to an issue. It is a good day indeed.

Still a bit odd. I just tried an install on calibre 9.14 running from source on a VM. None of the checkboxes in Ignore were checked.

I've been allergic to Auto-add since one co-worker checked the Automatically add files of all types box and imported the temp folder on their D: drive. Their claim was that they were trying to import all ebook files and didn't realize that all types is a total wildcard. At least, it was relatively harmless to the file system when the copied files were deleted

That would be the reason to ignore all ebook formats is clicked on by default, so you can choose the ebooks you want to load into Calibre. When that was the case I'd put ebooks in my loading folder and Calibre did nothing (didn't load the ebooks in Calibre, didn't remove the ebooks from that folder, didn't reach out to any other folder). Like with my music collection, I allow Calibre to only access that folder. Once I told it to load EBUPs and PDFs it did so, but only from my loading folder.

All's well that ends well. Which is not the case for my grandkids and fingerpaints. The blankets on the floor will never be the same again and the two of them are going to require a shower before heading home.
