[Metadata Source Plugin] Evrit (Updated for new e-vrit website)

Evrit is a metadata source plugin for Calibre that automatically retrieves book metadata and high-resolution cover images from the Israeli e-book store Evrit (עברית).

This is an updated maintenance release (v2.0.0). The plugin was originally created by HebrewReader (see original discussion: thread #351377). Following a complete redesign and platform migration of the e-vrit website to Next.js, the legacy ASP.NET endpoints stopped working (HTTP 404). This version completely rewrites the integration to restore full functionality.

Main Features:

• Retrieves Title, Authors, Publisher, Published Date, Comments/Synopsis, Tags/Genres, Series, and Ratings.
• High-resolution cover images (up to 1200px) directly from Cloudflare CDN.
• Hebrew phonetic normalization: handles Ktiv Haser / Male ('אהוי'), punctuation variations (geresh, gershayim, colons, hyphens), and LRM Unicode marks.
• Sets the Calibre identifier to evrit:<id> (displays as "עברית" in book details).

Version History:

• 2.0.0 (2026-09-15): Major update. Full rewrite for the new Next.js website. Added support for /api/search with browser WAF headers, Schema.org JSON-LD parsing, session cookies for extended details (including publish date), and 1200px cover downloads.
• 1.0.0 – 1.4.0 (2023): Original releases by HebrewReader.

Installation:

1. Download the attached Evrit.zip below.
2. In Calibre, navigate to Preferences -> Plugins -> click Load plugin from file.
3. Select Evrit.zip and confirm the installation.
4. Restart Calibre.

Hi,

I see you have currently a low post count on MR, which means you probably won't be able to edit the post in order to update the zip posted from 2.0 to 2.0.1 (current version on github repo).

Let me know whether you want me to replace it, and update the Index of Plugins to serve this updated maintenance release instead of HebrewReader's.

I have tested the 2.0 version, and it's working fine.

I have tested the 2.0 version, and it's working fine.

Yes, please! That would be great.
In 2.0.1, I made the session cookie dynamic (available in GitHub).
And please do update the Index of Plugins to point to this new thread.
