Thanks for the instructions! I encountered a minor issue with my files that prevented them from showing up. For troubleshooting:

I created the images in Canva, exported them as PNGs, and then used an online BMP converter, but my PB didn’t recognize these images. The problem was resolved by opening the images in GIMP 2.0, exporting them as BMPs, and selecting 24-bit under the advanced options. I hope this helps someone!

One more question: When viewing in dark mode, the image appears inverted. Is there a way to prevent this, or can I add a version of the image specifically designed for dark mode?

I have an issue where taskmgr_lock_background.bmp gets overwritten with whatever book's cover i open. Been trying to use these sample images from kaz, but keep hitting this issue. Anybody else dealt with this? Using a pocketbook era.

Did anyone get it to work on the newest Software? (Pocketbook Era). It does not work with newest update?

I did the files with

• • right dimensions 1264 x 1680 px (and reverse for landscape)
  • right background color #808040
  • 24 bit saved as BMP
  • saved horizontal + landscape in the right names & folders (see screenshot)

Still it shows the stock sleep image?

Just tried, works here on FW U700.6.8.4183.

Since we have so few "ready-made" images, I’m adding the one I currently use on my Pocketbook Era, a sleeping cat.

@Tintenfisch: Would you share your sleeping cat? I quite like that, too.

Re your question: Didn’t try 24-bit, I saved mine as indexed 16-color, this reduces filesize from 6.4 MB to 1.1 MB.

When using KOReader, I encountered an issue that the vertical sleep image is used both for vertical and horizontal rotations. At the same time, without changing anything, the default PB reader works correctly and changes the sleep image depending on the rotation.

Is there a way to make KOReader respect the screen orientation?

Edit: This issue has been discussed here, but I have no idea how to implement the solution described in the thread. Any help, please?

To resurrect an old thread. I just for got a PocketBook Era Lite and this path:

/ext1/system/resources/Line/

does not exist in the filesystem.

Can we still customize the screensaver in some way?

If you're viewing it on Linux or on a file manager directly on the ereader the directory will be:
/mnt/ext1/system/resources/Line/

If you're using M$ Windows it will be:
<drive letter>:\system\resources\Line

BUT on Windows to even see the system directory you will have to change your file explorer settings to show hidden files (& folders and drives) and also un-hide system protected files.

I tried viewing directly on the ereader and browsing it plugged into a Mac and the directory is not there. I can go as far as /mnt/ext1/system/resources/. There is no Line directory.

Just create folders so the directory path required exists, then pop your files in. Should then work.
