Intermittent horizontal lines on my Kindle Paperwhite 2 screen – hardware issue?

Hi everyone,
I recently bought a used Kindle Paperwhite 2 (6th generation), and I'm having an issue with the display.
The screen sometimes shows thin horizontal white/gray lines across the entire display. Interestingly, the lines are intermittent: sometimes they disappear completely and the screen looks perfectly normal.
The problem is not limited to books. The lines can also appear on the Home screen, Settings, and even during the Kindle boot/logo screen.
I have already tried a forced restart by holding the power button for about 40 seconds, but the problem still occurs.
I also noticed that the lines can sometimes remain visible when the Kindle is asleep/off.
Does this look like a failing E-Ink display, or could it be a loose/damaged display connection or another hardware issue?
Is there anything I can try before considering a screen replacement?
I've attached some photos showing the problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

intermittent increases the likelyhood that it is a loose display cable connection.

Could you tell me how I can check whether the display cable/connector is loose without damaging the screen?

Somehow, I get the feel that its a rendering issue with respect to specific font or book. Do you have image when in home screen? Does the book image seen in home screen when the issue is seen?

I am afraid that it may require you to open up the kindle! I could be wrong here!

I doubt that it is a rendering issue, but if it is it will also be present in a screenshot.

That is true, it would have to be opened to check and fix.

I believe Step 7 - lower left (largest) connector is the screen.

Please use proper tools and caution following this iFixit guide (which I would recommend over any video or AI “help”)

Thanks everyone for the replies. Yes, the lines also appear on the Home screen, Settings, and even on the Kindle boot/logo screen. They are intermittent: sometimes the screen becomes completely clear, then the horizontal lines come back. I have already tried a forced restart (holding the power button for about 40 seconds), but the issue still occurs.
Since the issue is intermittent, could a loose display connector/cable be the cause? Is there a safe way to check or reseat the connector without damaging the E-Ink screen? I don't want to open it unless it's really necessary.
Thanks for the help!

There is no way to reset the connector/cable without opening the case.

If you not comfortable following the ifixit guide, then you need to find someone that is, or take it to a phone repair shop (along with the URL to guide them). The repair fee might be more than the reader is worth to you, but it might also be quite modest.
