I did not use the code you posted because this is not a widows/orphans issue, as I've explained. All widows/orphans rules have been removed from the book, and my Kobo is set to widows: 1 and orphans: 1. Plus, changing the font size did not change the location of the pagebreak, which others have said proves it's not a widows/orphans problem. |

Because with the code I posted, centers could become no longer centered. The p class has a text-indent where as most p do not because the publishers do not know how to make simple code.

Put the chapter back as one chapter and then use the Scramble eBook plugin. Post the scrambled eBook. Tell us where you see the pagebreak so we can have a look at it. |

The length of a chapter (or actually an individual file within en epub) can be an issue with some readers. They may choke and fail to open the book/chapter at all, or cut the chapter short at some arbitrary point, or, as seems to be the case here, introduce additional pagebreaks to avoid having to paginate too much content at once. That's why many ebook creators will warn you if you have too large files.
An alternative solution is using a different reader. KOReader can deal with huge chapters (essentially the whole 500-page book in a single chapter) with no problems I could see. |

If you want me to put the scrambled book on my Kobo and go page by page, that's going to take a while because this is a 600+ page book in hardback. And even if I find the pagebreak, I don't know how to turn that into a location I can share with you or anyone else. I don't think finding it on the Kobo will let me work out which line it is in the html file for that chapter. I'm very happy to keep trying things to figure out what is/was causing the pagebreak to appear. I'd really like to know what it was so I can avoid it in future. But I don't know how to scramble the file and then show you where the pagebreak is. |

With the scrambled ePub, you can't search for any words. They are all scrambled.
Try the following...With all the paragraphs as one complete file, load the unscrambled ePub into the calibre editor, click the toolbar button that looks like a bug. That's check book. That will tell you if any of the HTML file are too large. |

Ran a bugcheck, it didn't mark any files as being too big. But I'd like to point out that the Calibre Viewer doesn't display the pagebreak at all; only Adobe Digital Editions and my Kobo. To me that means the problem might be one Calibre doesn't notice/think is an issue. |

What happens if you take out all of the HTML files except the one that gives you this pagebreak? Do you still see it? |

Yes, the pagebreak is still there, in the exact same place as before.

Is there a ballpark of what kind of file size is too large? This one is 234.5 KB, which is more than twice the size of any of the other chapter files. |

I tried with a retail copy of this eBook. It still breaks at the same place in chapter 3. I know the code is clean and as small as possible. This is using RMSDK. I also sent it as KePub and no problem.
So combine chapter 3 into one and send it as KePub. |

But this DOES mean that the issue was the file size of the chapter, then? |
