You are not the sole that I'd read that gave a praise for the "old fashioned" style of the forum.
Personally, for what it counts, I like it too just like that.

I turn on wifi on Kobo to download the books I buy from its store, onto the Pocketbook I won't need it, as I transfer the books, and if I recall it correctly I can put newest firmware into too, just throughout USB.

Same here. I actually dread the thought of the forums changing

I really detest forums/social media sites that try to force "relevant" or trending content in my face. I want to see the stuff I want to see in chronological order, and I'll decide what's relevant to me.

You don't want Mobile Read to harass you to use the mobile app constantly and be signed in??? Or have endless scrolling of repeated content???

I'm with Sirtel. MR works fine. If it ain't broke (or insecure), leave it. I hate GUI changes just to look modern.

No they aren't! I'm literally the same. I don't have any social media accounts, I end up on Reddit occasionally when I'm looking something up but I don't have an account there either. It's not weird!

My WiFi is turned off most of the time, but it's nice to have when I want to borrow a book from the library directly from the PocketBook Touch HD3. I picked the middle option, "Somewhat important." I don't allow automatic updates. I think my PocketBook is now about 4 or 5 updates behind.

I mainly use library apps like Hoopla and Libby so they require wifi.

I have used it but only for ebooks I purchase from the Nook Store. Otherwise, I just prefer to connect my ebook reader to my computer via USB cable and use Calibre to manage my ebook library. As far as purchasing ebooks, I prefer to buy them from Smashwords if it is possible.

As a secondary nische device I would be ok with no wifi, if very affordable.

(Like one of these new tiny ereaders for example.)

Since getting an Android based ereader WiFi has been so convenient for file transfers. So for me it would be essential for future devices.

Initially I was content with a basic ereader without WIFI, or a front-light for that matter! Now I'm used to having both and can't go back.

WIFI ts just far more convenient for accessing my ebook cloud library as well as synchronising my reading progress across my devices.
