I would tend to agree. On my KLC, 5.18 is definitely a work in progress. OTOH, you don't need the .kepub.epub extension any more since an non-DRMmed ePubs are opened in the Kobo renderer.

Is KePub in v5 firmware as bad as it is in the 4.x firmware without the enhancement to it?

It is a feature in Devmode.

The renderer can also be set in the config file, but using Devmode is so much more comfortable.

This raises the question of how to enable frv mode on 5.18.270971; the classic devmodeon does not seem to work.

There's an update file that can enable it: https://github.com/notmarek/KoboTolinoFindings

Note that the downgrade process also described on the site is not necessary anymore. You can go back to 4.x from the menu
