Replacing file on device
Been reading the threads on cleaning up epub files, is there a way to just replace the file on the device with the cleaned up one? By that, I mean not updating any metadata, just replacing the epub?

For the Kobo, the driver needs to be set to NOT treat all books as 'New' Then you just send again. You just send again for Kindles, Assumes the file (device) template remains the same. |

For a Kobo, any structural changes in the ePub will cause issues. Modifying the ToC, deleting, merging or adding files, changing the cover image, etc. I do use that setting when I've been editing a previously edited book and I am correcting typos, etc. that do not modify the structure of the ePub.

Pretty much the reason that I now have an Intake library and a Main library. Intake is where all the heavy listing is done and Main needs only minor changes if any. I used to use epubcheck and now use epubcheck and epubveri. I also ran my main library though epubveri-library and, wiping forehead, only one book showed an error.
A recent example of a minor change was done for my spouse. She was reading a book where one of the character's last name was Dossler. About half the time, Dossier was used. Being a book in which there were numerous references to dossiers, it was a bit of a pain though case sensitive search helped. Last edited by DNSB; Yesterday at 08:30 PM. |
