Why does the text under the icon in the taskbar show Update Calibre instead of calibre Updater?

I just found an issue. When I click the icon to update calibre, it should tell me I already have that version and ask if I want to still do it. Instead it asks if I want to update and does it even though I am running the same version.

The version I'm updating to should so in the dialogue asking if I want to update and if I have the same version, I should be notified of such other then seeing the version number.

Currently, clicking directly on the main icon triggers an immediate download of the latest stable version available on the servers, without first checking if it matches the one you already have installed.

I completely agree that this is a necessary improvement to avoid unnecessary downloads. In the next plugin update, I will modify this behavior so that:

The dialog box always clearly displays the version to which you will be updating (and your current version).

If it detects that both versions are the same, it will explicitly notify you ('You already have the latest version vX.X.X installed').

Intelligent Version Check: Clicking the plugin icon checks your installed version against the latest version available on Calibre's servers in real time.

Blocking Unnecessary Reinstallation: If you already have the latest version, the plugin will display an informative dialog box indicating this and prevent a redundant update/download.

Improved Confirmation Clarity: When an update is available, the dialog box explicitly states your current installed version and the new version you will be updating to (e.g., Do you want to update Calibre from version v7.5.0 to version v7.6.0?).

Note on Click Behavior: When you click the update icon, the dialog box may take a couple of seconds to appear. This is normal and expected behavior, as the plugin performs a network query at that precise moment to compare your current version with the latest published version before displaying the corresponding message.

I have suggestion for another feature. I know it know says you already have the latest version installed. But could you get the option to reinstall so you can do a repair install?
