It's not quite Edith Hamilton's Mythology, from my understanding. He frames the myths in the context of the cosmology he developed while writing The White Goddess and contains quite a bit of what Wikipedia might call "original research". But it's still interesting.

He himself seems to have believed it to be true, at least. "Fiction" to me implies knowingly false. "Poor scholarship" seems more appropriate.

Blood Sucking Fiends was the first of his books I read. My wife thought I was going crazy when I read it in bed. I was laughing so much. After I finished it I gave it to her to read and then she understood.
