Calibre 8.16.2 Sort by Author

Have you run Library Check and corrected any 'errors'?

Can you post the search expression as shown in the search box, and images of what you have in the three Preferences->Searching tabs.

Did I miss your reply on the results of the
Quality check plugin: Check Metadata: check author sort???

Do you have any Grouped searches configured Preferences: Searching" Grouped Searches (tab) and Similar books (tab)? I have a column that was for when the name on the cover was a Pen Name for the real authors name in this column.

( been repurposed to also contain the full list of authors in an Anthology, using the {Authors} field for just the Editor of that volume: Gardner R. Dozois (ed) (using a full author list in a filename was a ungodly mess ) )

BTW Neither Linux Mint or W10 is having sort issues on a clean (quality checked) Library.

Hi The Ducks,
Been working on your suggestion to try the Quality/Check Author sort. Only thing is I am striking that it alters the author sequence ie First name the last name in both fields. I am reasonably certain that the "sort" auther name usually became Surname, First name. Consequently I am confused as to which is correct in the "sort" field?

Preferences Tweaks: you want this one:

# Author sort name algorithm

This set the preference for NEW entries.
Then you need to recalculate: Right click Authors in the tag Browser:manage Authors:
Use the button at the bottom
