I'm curious how much more developers can tweak and add upon this browser (while working around any technical limitations). I will happily accept more updates. Please let us know here if you can think of any more useful changes/features in the future. Thanks for the patch!

In light of Google deprecating support for search on older browsers, I've extended the patch to support changing the search engine to DuckDuckGo, FrogFind or Bing. Check out the latest release on GitHub!

How this was accomplished: pretty simple actually, I just patched the single occurrence of https://www.google.com/search?q= in the kindle_browser binary with an alternative search URL, padding it with extra slashes to make it the same length like so: http:///////www.frogfind.com/?q=

Well, this didn't work on my PW5 with version 5.16.3.1, which wasn't a surprise to me because I can read. I am curious though what the reason is that it only supports 5.16.4+ and I'm a little wary of updating but I'll probably do it.

Not the newest version, but for the sourcecode you can check out: https://github.com/PiperKev/KindleBrowserPatch
I built a version from this repo with https://github.com/koreader/koxtoolchain: see attached. Though Neposeda's version seems to be newer

UPD: Found a newer version on GH: https://github.com/usrx215/KindleBrowserPatch (compiled as kindle_browser_patch-1.0.3-armhf.zip)
