Hello, I have the Kobo Clara BW with the early access firmware version 5.18.270971.
When I try to copy the annotations or highlights from the books using KoboUtilities I only the following information for each book.

(Title, Author, Last read, Percentage read)

Do you know what happens to the database when you downgrade? Maybe the annotations get kept. I don't know as I've never downgraded or read what happens to the data in the database when you do downgrade.

If I'm not mistaken, when you downgrade everything gets deleted, the books and everything.

I can confirm, I lost all settings and read stats when I upgraded and the same when I downgraded.

When I upgraded I didn't lose the books or highlights, but all the books were missing the Table of Contents and I couldn't fix it using KoboUtilities. New added books would have their ToC.

The Tolino 5.x Firmware had also a ton of bugs that is why I installed the Kobo FW. I thought for this early release, that they had fixed most of the bugs, but it seems they haven't.

Even though the Tolino 5.x FW is already out for more than 2 years. Really disappointed in Kobo how they can still have these bugs, and normal Tolino users are basically forced to use that Firmware.

There is currently no way to restore annotations to a device with the plugin since I don't think there is a way to guarantee this to be reliable. Any small difference between the version of the book that the annotations were made in and the version that is on the device when the annotations are restored can cause them to be completely off. This is particularly relevant when automatically converting books to kepub on transfer. It's something that I would like to investigate more deeply but I probably won't have time for it soon.

As for why the annotations feature doesn't seem to show any actual annotations I'm not sure, it's possible that the database structure has changed. I don't currently have a device that's running the beta firmware so if someone has more information about this I would be interested in hearing it.

Get someone to send you the database from a v6.x firmware. Then you can have a look and see what's different.

The database includes account information as well as all registered library cards. So, maybe don't do that.

Whoever donates the database can go in and remove their account info and library info (if there is such). They can do this with the copy of the database.

Hi,
I don't know whether this is the right place to submit the issue I am facing but I would like to know what to do if device database check says:

wrong # of entries in index content_bookid_index
wrong # of entries in index sqlite_autoindex_content_1
row 4 missing from index content_bookid_index
row 4 missing from index sqlite_autoindex_content_1

I have seen a post from like five years ago where the person already had a backup and was able to do something with it, but this is my first time using KoboUtilites and I wanted to create the initial backup in the first place. I think something might be wrong with this file: KoboReader.sqlite

I have already tried compresing the database. I have also tried to log out whilst saving the old KoboReader.sqlite file and afterwards I could make a backup but it also deleted all my reading progress and removed my books from my collections. The books stayed in the device though. Because it worked fine before, I replaced the new KoboReader.sqlite file with the old one, which returned all the reading data, but it again fails to backup.

The problem is that I do not understand the reason for it to fail to do so, because it works fine, runs fast and all the data is working correctly. I want the backup though, because I may lose the device and it would be handy.

Also, in calibre even with the backup issue I can see my data like reading time and so on, however when I close it the data dissappear from calibre and show only when I connect kobo again.

I am wondering if I could somehow keep only the Kobo % read and Kobo time spent reading and then log out, get new KoboReader.sqlite and just add the old Kobo % read and Kobo time spent reading to the book columns that had them initally. I do not really need any of the other data.
