The CJ Cherryh bundle is available here in Estonia (as full bundle for €16.81 minimum).

Could well be georestricted with the UK having a different publisher for her books?

I’ve never read anything by her although I’ve come across the name a lot over the years. Worth getting?

For me, it was worth getting since there were quite a few books that I did not have and could not justify purchasing at ~$10 Cdn each.

I enjoyed the CJ Cherryh books that I read.
I had the Fortress series which was not in this bundle.
I only had a few of the other books so it was a good deal for me.
I remembered that her ebooks were seldom discounted in the past that I noticed.

Very likely; as I recall her SFF was picked up by a UK publisher in the 90s, but only some were published - most of the early Alliance-Union books weren't. I used to buy US import paperbacks back in the day. Apart from the Foreigner series, the full bundle was worth it for Alliance Unbound & Regenesis; both recent additions, and the first is only available in hardback... Also the Chanur series which are the best first contact novels I've ever read.

I suspect this bundle is because she announced her retirement from writing earlier this year.

Ice by Jacek Dukaj is £1 in the UK (Amazon only ATM, price-matchable on Kobo)
Originally published in Polish in 2007, now translated by Ursula Phillips.
This is a chunky book (1183 pages).
Quote:
*****EBRD LITERATURE PRIZE FINALIST*
*LOCUS FINALIST FOR BEST TRANSLATED NOVEL 2026*
*SHORTLISTED FOR THE BRITISH BOOK AWARDS - BOOK OF THE YEAR, SCIENCE FICTION & FANTASY*

A Trans-Siberian odyssey through political, criminal, scientific, philosophical and amorous intrigues, and into an endless winter to confront something utterly alien.

14th July 1924: In a Warsaw buried under feet of snow and Russian rule, Benedykt Gieroslawski, a dissolute young Polish mathematician, is roused from his bed by two officials from the Ministry of Winter and dispatched to Siberia, on the Trans-Siberian Express, to track down his long-exiled father.

The catalyst for this frosty metamorphosis of 20th century history is the impact of the Tunguska asteroid, deep in Siberia, in 1908. From this Ground Zero, emerge the Gleissen, silent harbingers of an eternal winter that follows in their ponderous wake. As they spread across the continent, agriculture collapses and people flock to cities as they seek protection from the deadly cold. As the land freezes, so does history: the Tsar still rules Russia; the Belle Époque endures; and the First World War never happened.

But out there, on the ice, a new world is being forged. The extreme, alien cold has transmuted elements into strange new forms, a 'black physics' that is the catalyst for a new industrial and scientific revolution. At the heart of it lies Siberia – a 'Wild East', a magnet for all the political, religious and scientific fevers shaking the world at the dawn of the 20th century, the crucible where black physics, shamanic lore and the cold logic of winter combine. And Benedykt's final destination.

Will he embrace the ice, or destroy it?

The Tapestry of Fate (An Amina al-Sirafi Adventure #2) by Shannon Chakraborty is $3 in the US (Kobo, Amazon)
Quote:
New York Times bestselling author Shannon Chakraborty sets sail into the second adventure of pirate Amina al-Sirafi as her quest to track down magical artifacts brings her to the island lair of a sorceress whose woven enchantments are impossible to flee.

Amina al-Sirafi thinks she’s struck gold. Tasked with hunting down arcane artifacts for the council of immortal peris, she can savor the occasional rollicking adventure on the high seas with her cherished criminal companions while still returning home to raise her beloved daughter, Marjana. But when Raksh, the spirit of discord with whom she is reluctantly wed, provokes the council’s wrath, Amina is charged with a seemingly impossible quest: steal a spindle capable of rewriting fate from a mysterious sorceress on an island no one can escape.

Forced to leave Marjana—who is increasingly frustrated at being peddled what are clearly lies about her mother’s life and her own past—Amina finds her mission almost immediately thrown into peril. But deadly storms, an erratic poison mistress, and old enemies are the least of her worries. For the peris’ story is unraveling, hinting at a far deadlier game whose rules Amina must swiftly puzzle out. A game that sets her against an adversary more cunning and powerful than she has ever faced.

A game that not everyone on her crew wants her to win.

I started reading that about 6 months ago. Eventually gave up - it had some cool ideas but it was just too hard going for me.

The Heart of the Nhaga (The Bird That Drinks Tears #1) by Lee Young-do is £1 in the UK (Kobo, Amazon)
New translated release. Review by Gautam Bhatia
Quote:
Discover the bestselling epic fantasy series from the grandmaster of Korean SFF, available for the first time in English by award-winning translator Anton Hur. A can't-miss for readers of the great classics and giants of fantasy, from J.R.R Tolkien to Ursula K. Le Guin

Three handles one.

The world is divided by the Line of Limit. To the north are the Tokkebifire people able to manipulate flames as both weapons and illusions; Rekon – giant birdmen with immense strength and warrior acumen; and the humans – as divided as the other races are unified. To the south are the Nhaga – a reptilian people who relinquish their hearts for immortality. For centuries, the races didn’t cross that line, but change is in the air. A Nhaga is being sent North…and a trio is being dispatched to make sure this agent from the South makes it out alive – one from each race.

But the illusion of a simple journey is quickly dispelled by the fact that the Tokkebi is merely a scholar, not an adventurer; the Rekon is deathly afraid of water; and the human hunts and eats Nhaga. And when the Nhaga they’re supposed to be escorting out of the Kiboren forest is murdered, the one sent in his place turns out to very much have a heart – meaning he’s quite vulnerable to the dangerous exodus.

The four must quickly forge an alliance and shed the distrust and prejudice that plagues them if they are to survive. And just as crucial, they must figure out what this mission is actually about, because unbeknownst to them, the very fate of the world might rest on this one Nhaga making it to the North intact.

A classic not to be missed, Heart of the Nhaga is epic fantasy at its best, translated into English for the first time ever by award-winning translator Anton Hur.

How can you lump Le Guin with Tolkiien? Le Guin is not even close to good enough.

They are quite different. The text doesn't claim they are the same. From - to -

Songs of the Dead (The Strata Wars #1) by Brandon Sanderson & Peter Orullian is $4 in the US (Kobo, Amazon)
New release. Written by Orullian, based on an outline by Sanderson.
Quote:
The instant national bestseller about a London rocker is faced with a life-or-death choice when he realizes that a league of necromancers are the only ones keeping London safe in this music-infused fantasy cowritten by #1 New York Times bestselling author Brandon Sanderson along with author-musician Peter Orullian.

Jack Solomon is walking home with his mentor Henry, owner of the iconic London rock club The Iron Horse, after another night when they are both shot dead by an assassin painted in corpse makeup. When Jack wakes up on the street, somehow alive, yet without Henry, he has found himself in a London where an ancient league of necromancers known as thanatists are entering a civil war, and he’s now at the center of it.

Gathering his friends at the Iron Horse, Jack is on a crash course to learn how to be a thanatist and navigate the Strata—living eras of the past sprawling beneath today's London—in order to win this fight. What is revealed is that a slow revolution to rewrite history to favor the near-forgotten dead, through music, is coming to a boil, and the Iron Horse is essential to keep

London safe.

#1 New York Times bestselling author Brandon Sanderson has partnered with heavy metal musician and fellow fantasy author Peter Orullian to create a unique contemporary fantasy series, The Strata Wars, lifting the veil to a hidden magical world where musical history and necromantic magic is intertwined, and has been for centuries.

Worked fine for me in Denmark.

Good collection, except I am unsure why we're getting book 4 of the Cyteen series, but not the first three.

Acorna (Acorna series #1) by Anne McCaffrey & Margaret Ball is $1 in the US (Kobo, Amazon)
Quote:
"Something's Alive In There!"

She was just a little girl, with a tiny horn in the center of her forehead, funny-looking feet, beautiful silver hair, and several curious powers: the ability to purify air and water, make plants grow, and heal scars and broken bones. A trio of grizzled prospectors found her drifting in an escape pod amid the asteroids, adopted her, and took her to the bandit planet Kezdet, a place where no questions are asked and the girl might grow up free.

But Kezdet has its own dark secret. The prosperity of the planet is based on a hideous trade in child slave labor, administered by "The Piper" -- a mystery man with special plans for Acorna and her powers. But free little girls have a way of growing into freedom-loving young women, and Acorna has special plans all her own. . .
