Taking it easy on this Saturday morning before a busy weekend starts.
This morning we're heading out to the botanical gardens, where there's a plant market my sister wants to visit. I'll probably find a nice place to sit somewhere and read. When she's done we'll have lunch at the café of one of the food trucks. At 5pm we're meeting up with family for dinner. We'll have to see at what time we're done at the botanical garden whether we first head home or go straight to the restaurant. It's an hour drive and even if we're early we can take a walk in the woods/nature reserve the restaurant is located in. Tomorrow we're visiting a family friend who's been have some health issues. But for now it's just past 7am. Everything is quiet. I'm going to work on my cross stitch project and do some reading before we have to head out around 10am. |

After a couple of days of nice weather fall has returned. It's windy, there won't be much sun, this morning there will be showers and this afternoon into the evening it's going to rain continuously. And it's cooler than it has been, around 18℃, and the nights are going to be colder, also. This will be the weather for the next couple of days, though the amount of rain predicted varies.

Getting ready for a (hopefully) busy Wednesday.
New items go on sale in our store on Wednesday, so it tends to be the busiest day of the week. However, today there's a national public transport strike, and it's going to rain this afternoon. I think most of our customers are local and either come by foot, bike or car. But it might affect people coming to work, I know that especially the younger colleagues often use public transport. So I hope the girl I'm working with today can manage to come to work (in time), I hate to be on my own on a Wednesday. Yes, my team leader is working, but she has to train a girl from another department to work as a cashier (management loves to plan in training of new employees on Wednesdays). It's also one of the team leaders last day before she goes on vacation for three weeks. The rota for next week is very bare bones, so that'll be fun. There is a chance I get called in tomorrow afternoon because of understaffing. |

Failure. Can't control the temperature enough making them. Too done on the outside while too raw on the inside.I might be able to play with lower power setting, but not this time around.
But I can make great cupcakes. (Half the box cake recipe, use muffin pan and the water bath part under beneath it, put 1 and a quarter cups of water in the bottom and cook 8 minutes. Last edited by Greg Anos; 09-12-2026 at 03:40 PM. |

If I hadn't offered my TL would have had to work all day, and she's currently slowly returning to full duty after a burn out. Last week she overdid it one day and was out for the rest of the week. And I don't want that to happen to her again. My co worker is away for three weeks, so it'll be three times I possibly work extra. I do want to keep it half a day, so I still have some time off. But looking at the schedule for the next two weeks and it's a lot better, at least for the Thursdays. So I'll have to wait and see if they still need me. The problem these last couple of weeks have been that the schools have started again and all the school going co workers are figuring out when they can work. It looks like things are getting slowly better now, though there are still a couple of have to let the store know about their availability. Funny thing: one of the other cashier was angry that I worked extra and went to complain to the GM about it. She never offers to work extra and when someone jokingly asked on Tuesday if she can stay an hour longer (paid) she got angry. |
