Kobo Clara 2e very slow

Hello!

I'm asking this on behalf of my nana who's been using this Clara 2e for around 2 years or so now...ever since she got it, it's been wonky! Extremely slow boot times (takes like 2 minutes to boot), freezing, and book covers not showing up, even with books bought straight from the Kobo store !

It's running the latest version of Kobo OS and has less than a handful of books sideloaded from Calibre, with majority of them being paid for from Kobo.

She does have around 135 books downloaded, but is only taking up around 3GB out of her 16GB, so it's not a swap issue.

Anything helps, thank you !

135 ordinary epub books should in no way take up 3GB. 1350 books might. What kind of books are these 135? PDF? Comics/manga?

Not that I know of.....she's been a Kobo user since 2013 so maybe it's taking up more storage for more books that she just doesn't have open but has downloaded?

All I've seen her read are regular books, nothing with rich content in it.

Should I try giving it a factory reset maybe?

You have her library in calibre, so resetting the device could not hurt.

Reload the books in batches and test it out. If it works as expected, then load another one. If it then develops this problem, look at one of those books as the source.
