Koreader on Kobo and em dashes

I have noticed that Koreader in my Kobo Libra can often start a line with an em dash if it hits the right spot, while on my PC it attaches em dashes to preciding words. The latter is usually the correct typographical way, so I'm wondering why the Kobo version doesn't behave in the same way. Is it down to how the Kobo renders the file, or is it down to Koreader itself?

(for clarification, I mean closed em dashes, without space on either side)

It's down to KOReader as Kobo has nothing to do with how KOReader renders.

Curious - if it's down to Koreader itself, I'd expect both the PC version and Kobo version behave in the same way.
