There was one online shop I made one purchase from that did that before they went out of business. Their .acsm files were set to expire in 47 hours. I was on a family vacation and did not have the chance to do the download within that time period. I ended up re-purchasing my only purchase from them from Kobo where the expiry period is even shorter but you can re-download the .acsm file without needing someone to manually reset your account.
From the email thread between us: Code:
<purchase>2022-05-01T00:29:51-04:00</purchase> <expiration>2022-05-03T23:29:51-04:00</expiration> Code:
<purchase>2026-08-04T17:04:43+00:00</purchase> <expiration>2026-08-04T23:04:43+00:00</expiration> |

The expiry on Kobo is no problem as you can download again.
However I always download and process immediately. Even though Rakuten owns Kobo, their server might go out (and has done for hours) for days, or Rakuten could shutter it with little warning. |

I use Kobo /Rakuten for all my downloaded ebooks. I have a unique email address for Kobo.
Since this change has been announced I have received several spam emails to this address. So only known to Kobo and Adobe AND NOW to Wipro. Is this the Wipro that is based in India and were the source of the Teamviewer epidemic of scam a few years ago? |

No Spam on my unique to Kobo address, ever. But I've not had an Adobe registered email address for years.
I don't use an explicit Adobe client for ACSM. |
