AI video generators for book promo trailers - anyone using them?
I've been seeing more indie authors and small publishers experiment with AI video tools to create promo trailers for their books. As someone who reads a lot on my e-reader, I'm curious whether this is actually useful for the reading community or mostly noise.
I've been testing Kling 3.0 (https://kling3ai.co/) recently - it's an AI video generator that creates short clips from text prompts. The idea would be to take a book's blurb or key scenes and turn them into a 10-15 second visual teaser for social media. The quality is surprisingly decent for a web tool, and you don't need video editing skills. Has anyone here tried something like this? Do you find AI-generated trailers helpful for discovering books, or would you rather see traditional covers and excerpts? I'm also curious if publishers have guidelines around AI-generated promo material yet. |

That's the first I've heard about them. I'd have to see a few to decide whether or not I'd find them useful. I suspect not, but you never know...

I've seen the preview that it shows on their website. I don't really know how to feel about it. It has this AI slop quality about it.
The website doesn't allow to generate a test-video without credits so it's hard to say what would happen if you gave the tool a blurb or whatever. The closest thing that I'd compare this tool to is this: And it didn't really impact my decision on buying the book, I had already pre-ordered it, because Rebecca is one of my favorite authors. But it made me curious, because it's a well made teaser. To be honest, the AI generated video would probably turn me off, thinking why they bothered to have such a low quality video at all if they didn't have the ressources for a proper marketing campaign. Like it's detrimental to how I perceive the book and it's quality. I'd suggest just giving out review copies to Books are Sick or Becca and the Books and whomever the kids watch now. |

I agree: AI slop. And I would add: Good for feeding pigs, but not for me.

An insult to the environment, authors, readers / viewers and artists.
Tools built on Intellection Property violation that are helping destroy the world, make a select few rich (Nvidia maybe), increase corporate control and often produces o/p that's irrelevant or junk! |

Well, by the looks of it, AI is not going away. Pretty soon it'll likely to be difficult to find anything (medicine, agriculture, science, computer programming and so on) where AI is not involved to some extent or other. So the choice will be to either use it or basically stop living.
I'm not a big fan of LLMs and rarely use them. But the reality is what it is. Ranting about the evils of AI in every thread about them is not going to change anything and will only annoy people. Of course LLMs have many downsides, but at this point it's no longer very likely that their development will just be dropped altogether. And we'll have to live with it, whether we like it or not. |

Follow the money.
LLMs are about to go bust. Biggest bust ever. Only Nvida and people building the datacentres are making money. Of all the companies that are not LLM startups (they will be wiped out) and involved Oracle is the worst exposed. They might go bankrupt. The only question is it this year, 2027 or 2028 the immoral evil scam will collapse. Sony & others now suing Anthropic. The US courts have let the LLM purveyors off lightly, as is typical. See Google Scanning. Unlike individuals sued for file sharing. The extent of the fraud, damage and criminal activities is slowly being exposed. |

I’m not going to pretend that I’m the focus group, nobody markets this stuff to 46 year old people 😂
