1000s of duplicate pages in an epub??

Hey all, I'm new to the forum!

I have been using KoReader on my Pocketbook InkPad Color 3 for well over a year, and have enjoyed it the whole time, but I just ran into a super weird bug.

This book, "Immediacy or, The Style of Too Late Capitalism", is in epub format. It is 235 pages, but for some reason when opening in KoReader, it's 8423? Every page or two it is repeating EVERY footnote entry and every page of sources from the end of the book, which adds up to around ~35 duplicate pages per non-duplicate page. I have tried the direct-from-source epub, as well as one processed through Calibre, and both had the same results. Any idea what's going on here?

For a start, disable footnotes rendering in top menu - second tab - style tweaks.
Also try disabling “Embedded styles” from bottom menu - last tab.

KOReader does what it’s told, and it seems like the book is very poorly formatted.
You can scramble your book and upload here, so we can have a look at the styles in css.

I tried changing both of those settings and we're down to 429 pages, so thats definitely the right direction lol

Any guide on scrambling the file? I tried searching around but everything I found was about how to fix scrambled text, not purposely scramble it 😅

This is the reason that everything except "In-page EPUB footnotes" is disabled by default. I prefer to enable the other two options by default as well but they might come with unintended side effects.

But if only EPUB footnotes were enabled it's likely the book's fault.
