Kobo Price Match experiences

I've still been price-matching successfully in the UK.

Biggest recent one was £7.10 refund on a £7.99 purchase on 4th April.

And just today I also get an email asking me to confirm my email address before a price match request can go through.

In some ways, this is a good thing. Companies should check that they're not being used to bombard some poor soul with emails they never signed up for.

OTOH, I'm a pretty regular Kobo customer who's done lots of price matches in the past.

I'm not too concerned about it yet.

It could be that too many people have made a mistake typing their email or too many people are using the rebate form to spam others.

For what it may be worth, I priced matched a book last Thursday. Since it was a short term price drop, I took a screenshot of the price on Amazon and Kobo and offered to make it available if needed. The $5.49 Cdn refund landed in my Kobo account on Tuesday which considering that for most Canadians, it was a 4 day weekend from Good Friday to Easter Monday, was fast service. There was no request to confirm my email address.

It sounds like you have to click a verification link that gets sent to your e-mail address. That's the way it usually works.

It was a regular verification email with a link to click.
We update if it asks me every time I fill the form, or if it remembers me.

Okay, so I have now had problems with four Kobo US price-matches. I haven't even gotten the "we'll pick up your ticket soon" email for any of them.

I have sent an email directly to Kobo help, after the first three, which were in pretty quick succession, and they came back and suggested trying a different browser. Which I did a couple of days later, when I had a price-match I wanted. And that one also never even got the "ticket soon" email.

So I've now emailed back and told them that the different browser thing didn't work, and waiting for a response.

And I've had the same thing happen with one price-match for my alternate Kobo UK account, but haven't started trying to address that singleton yet.

Has anyone else had this issue - not with a rejection of the request, but with the submissions apparently not even getting submitted?

Not so far. I have had the email asking for confirmation every time recently.

I've also had to start downloading with Chrome, because their server apparently doesn't like the http headers sent with Safari!

I did my first price match yesterday. I chatted with a Kobo rep beforehand. The Amazon ebook had the red percentage and the Digital List Price as well as the Best Price in 30 days notice. Kobo sent me an email indicating that they had credited my account for the price difference. Also had to confirm my email. Lucky me.

Has anyone noticed their verbiage removed the "plus an extra 10%" on the US site for price matching? It isn't on this page at all, or in the terms: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/p/pricematch-about

I'm still getting the extra.
Yeesterday I bought something that was $5.99 on Kobo, and $3.99 on Amazon, and got $2.40 in credits. That's 20% extra, not 10%.
