PW5 New Fonts not detected after Jailbreak/Nosebleed

Paperwhite 5 Signature, firmware 5.18.3, jailbroken via Nosebleed. User fonts register correctly in userFontsConfig.json with all four styles and menu bitmaps generated; scanner reports NoChange; fontsMountedState = 1; but getFontStyles returns only the ten built-ins. Two different font families tested. Is /var/local/system/font.properties supposed to exist, and what generates it?

Tried a bunch of things and cannot get the Kindle to recognize any new fonts no matter what I do. I also tried converting a test text file and using that to eliminate the book file from suspicion.

Any ideas appreciated!

or maybe that's yet another bug. Which firmware?
