Lightbulb improving knockoff Libra 2 SleepCover cases

like many others, my original Kobo SleepCover began deteriorating within months of purchase... the super thin vinyl layer peeled and has been flaking off over the past couple years.

some people have had good luck with the knockoff cases, but i've bought/returned four of them now because none of them interact with the Hall effect sleep/wake sensor consistently or properly. just luck of the draw, it seems!

so far, i've taken some tiny magnets and stuck them to the built-in ones, and this immediately solves the "go to sleep and wake up" issue. however, these external magnets are also strong enough that they affect the sensor when the case is folded around the back -- meaning that flipping the case around puts the device to sleep while i'm reading it. oops!

i'm wondering if any MobileRead posters have dissected either their original SleepCase or any of the clones, to see what's going on with the magnets. the reason i ask is because if somebody's already done it and has knowledge (and/or photos) it could keep me from accidentally destroying my own in the attempt.

I've never had a sleepcover that doesn't work - but I don't buy bargain-basement Temu/AliExpress stuff. My current cover is a Papertify, my previous one a Gecko. Both worked perfectly out of the box.

I wish Kobo would release good quality covers. Peeling vinyl doesn't survive a month in my hands. The old amazon premium leather covers, whilst insanely overpriced, were the only functional and attractive covers I've had for e-readers.

My red cover for my Libra 2 eventually started to peel. Finte also peels.

The replacement case I bought for my Libra 2 and it's working very well.

I bought the same case from a different brand

Buy now as cases for the Libra 2 as getting harder to find.

I used to have an Oberon Design cover for my Kindle DXG. Talk about 'insanely expensive' (they cost more than a basic Kindle at the time). but oh so gorgeous...

You scared me. I bought a refurbished Libra2 a couple of months ago with a free branded case. It doesn't look like it's of poor quality. Can you see in the photo what will happen to it?

By the way, I received a case from Kobo with some funny stains. I don't know if it was intentional or a defect, but looks a bit unusual After seeing the photo above, I'll be more careful with it.
