Degoogled eink device?
Hi there,
Are there any degooglable eink devices? I should like to run something like iodéOS on a tablet or eink phone, ideally in color. I don't need much Android functionality, but I do need the screen to be visible in the sunlight, and I want the device to be internet connected but also respect my privacy... LineageOS or some other degoogled OS would also work, but I mention iodéOS since there is a GSI available. Basically, I am wondering which eink readers are: 1) Bootloader unlockable 2) Project Treble compatible. |

Many eink ereaders don't run Android at all. Some that do have Android either don't have the Google Framework (so some apps don't run) or can turn it off. Playstore is part of the Google framework.
If you want privacy, then only load ebooks via SD card or USB. No Internet. Browsers are pretty rubbish on eink anyway. All real mono eink works fine in direct sun. Coloured eink is poorer than OLED/LCD with a true matt screen. |

just run KOReader.
other than battery drain and occasional driver issues, it's a very ideal operating system for me. very extensible as well. |

Sadly, KOReader is not an operating system. It needs an installed operating system to work. As it's home page says:

You can give a watch at: https://plasma-mobile.org/get/
*e.g.: https://wiki.postmarketos.org/wiki/Devices or: https://pine64.com/product-category/smartphones/ or at the pne64 tab: https://pine64.org/devices/pinetab2/ Before I suggest you to check the updates or recent reviews, I'm not following much since a while. |
