Device: calibro pocketbook 614w (basic2)
Need internal SD card image for PocketBook 614W (Basic 2)

Hello everyone, @nhedgehog.

I have a Calibro 614 Basic, which is a rebranded PocketBook 614W (Basic 2). Right now, my e-reader's screen is stuck on the "Connect to PC" image. When I connect it to my PC via USB, the computer recognizes the connection, but the e-reader itself is completely unresponsive and refuses to boot.

I checked the internal SD card on my PC and found out it has gone into a hardware read-only state. Worse, the sectors are deeply corrupted. I tried to open the 'fwinfo' file to tell you my exact firmware version, but it is completely filled with garbled, unreadable symbols due to memory corruption. Therefore, I don't know my exact firmware version.

I already bought a brand new 16GB micro SD card.

Since I don't know my firmware version, does anyone have a generic, patched (CID-bypassed) internal SD card image (.img) for the PB614W that I can use to boot my device? Could someone please send me a PM with the download link?

Also, after downloading the image, is it enough to simply flash it to my new 16GB card using BalenaEtcher/Win32DiskImager, or are there any extra preparation steps for the PB614W?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I have recently revived mine by replacing its battery and I should be able to dump its SD card when I'm back from my vacation.

I've replaced it's SD card before but I don't remember how exactly did I achieve it, it involved Cyrillic language forums, google translate, device's serial number and a hex editor.

I understand. I can dump the card .img for you once I'm back from vacation.

Meanwhile it might also be worth it to contact Pocketbook customer support. When I was looking for a solution for my device I've seen people mentioning that they were able to get patched images from Pocketbook if they paid €3. I haven't personally tried it though.

Pocketbook customer support told me that they no longer repair Pocketbook 614w. Can someone please send me a modified .img file that would work in my reader?
