Custom Chinese-English dictionary

I have just created a Chinese English dictionary. Can someone test if it works?

Any updates for this? Does anyone have a working copy of a Chinese-English dictionary? I tried the one attached to the start of the thread but it doesn't work, even after renaming to the latest convention.

Not certain if this will be much help but for a friend, I created a Stardict-Kobo conversion a while back from a dictionary called stardict-mdbg-cc-cedict-2.4.2.tar.bz2 using Pyglossary. I recreated it today and copied it to my Kobo in the .kobo/custom-dict directory with the filename of dicthtml-zh-en.zip. It seems to work on a sample Chinese language ePub on my Sage.

Worked for me, thanks so much! Didn't even have to use `dictutil` like I thought I would.

Even with system language set to Chinese, non-Kanji/JP characters don't display for me though, from your screenshot it looks like you patched your system fonts?

I just selected a font supporting Chinese glyphs to display the book.

Hello i tested this on kobo nia using latest firmware, in cust dict folder using zhxx insfead jaxx it works. Thanks. zh-en or zh-CN-en worked too. Wait ah highlighting does not work unless its dicthtml-ja-en.zip. BTW DNSB ur dictionary is v heavy on my kobo nia, very slow, seems someone on reddit said something similar but idk what device theyre using.

I came across this thread and wanted to make a more updated Chinese-English dictionary based on the latest CC-CEDICT data.

@tshering thank you for all the useful information you posted here! The key insight was using the 1-character prefix scheme for the html files (i.e. one 感.html instead of many 2-char prefix files 感覺.html, 感情.html, etc) as per your cedict4kobo.zip file. I also added a CSS style rule to force the font to be AR UDJingxihei since simplified characters won't be rendered otherwise.

I made 3 different versions, Simplified+Pinyin, Traditional+Pinyin, Traditional+Zhuyin which I attached here. (All of them will show simplified and traditional, it's just which one is shown first)

As you guys probably know already, you will have to put this in b.kobo/custom-dicts and rename it to dicthtml-ja-en.zip to act like a Japanese-English dictionary. (Tested on my Kobo Libra Colour with FW 4.45.23697)
