While this is true for JB itself, the guide asks to fill the storage. So PC is needed for not screwing up Kindle during obtaining JB

I have the Colorsoft but it's blacklisted, I can't even login with Amazon account. Can I use this method in any way? I can't even get past the account setup screen to open browser or anything. It was factory reset unfortunately then I was surprised that it's blacklisted and I can't get it to work again since then. I ordered it first but I didn't like the haziness and asked for refund and got the paperwhite instead. Amazon never came to take it back and told me to keep it, I was using it but didn't know they blacklisted it, I only knew after resetting it.

Awesome, it did work on my PW6, but i still cant figure out how to install anything else than KOreader. Cant seem to find any other packages with ;kpm, also installing kual with ;log mrpi is not working for me. Is there a way to install Kterm and SSH?

Yes, you can bypass this out of box experience (OOBE) screen.

But first, select a language and connect Kindle to PC. Fill it up with dummy heavy files until 100 MB left.

Then find a network with captive portal (you know, those that require a certain action like login or agreeing to terms of conditions before it lets you to the internet, like in airports and cafes). Kindle will open browser for captive portal. Do NOT connect to internet yet, you just needed browser. In the address bar type ;demo and hit Enter. A popup will show up - hit NO. Then hit Home button.

You should now be NOT in a demo mode but without OOBE screen either. Then go ahead and do the Vera JB as instructed.

After that use KOReader’s Terminal Emulator plugin to run these commands to kill OOBE for good:

cd /var/local/decanter
rm -f RESUME_OOBE_FOR_OTA
rm -f OTA_START_FOR_METRIC

These just remove the two empty files that insteuct Kindle to run OOBE. Nothing else should break.

It's nice to have appropriate jailbreak for my PW6 2024.
But I have a problem — ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT while try establish connection
At first I think about corporate filtering but hotspot on my cellphone also show the same error

Simple and clearly explained. I used the Paperwhite 5, which has been stuck on version 5.19.2 for a while, to test it (although I don’t think I’ll be using it on my newer Kindle devices).

Can this be run on a device that has been jailbroken before?

The reason I ask is kinda complicated. I have a ColorSoft that was jailbroken using Winterbreak and then updated to 5.18.3 (with KUAL fixed and Hotfix run again). I intended to gift the Colorsoft to my Dad. I showed it to him and had him play around with KOReader to see if he wants it. Unfortunately, he decided he would rather not mess with a jailbroken device and hit factory reset before I could warn against that (renametobin was enabled). Obviously it broke the Kindle and it kept insisting on downloading an update upon restart.

After a lot of effort I managed to manually downgrade it 5.18.1. That allowed me to boot into the Kindle software without forcing an update. I have it running again and in airplane mode. Unfortunately, I can’t seem to install KUAL and MRPI again; KUAL just doesn’t show. And so I’m not able to turn off OTA blocking. I just need to enable OTA updates again and then factory reset the kindle (so I can update it to latest official firmware and present it to my Dad).

Wondering if I should run the Vera as a way to get KUAL back so I can turn on OTA updates again? Or is it better to keep trying to see if I can install KUAL again via old Winterbreak method?
