I am not sure if this website is supported, but I think it would be a way to bypass the current AO3 issues.
I use an extension called AO3 Saver; it makes an offsite HTML copy of the latest iteration of fics you visit. IF a fic gets deleted, the extension redirects you to the repository where you can access the HTML version of it. So I was thinking if this could be similar to the ".gay" option FFF has. Here is an example https://ao3saver.com/works/66989884 It keeps the same URL work ID of the fic, so the above link is for the following fic https://archiveofourown.org/works/66989884 So I was wondering if making ao3saver.com an alternative when ao3 is not possible is a viable method for FFF to use. |

I know you can use ships2chars to make sure all relationship characters are included in characters, but is there a way to do the reverse? I’d like to exclude all relationship characters from the character list on my title page. I’m currently doing that manually (e.g. characters=~Character Name A&&ships=~Character Name A), but it’s not a scalable solution.

I can't think of any way to do that. Not without new code.
Honestly, I don't know how I'd do it with new code. All(?) of our existing extra settings are about adding (add_genre_when_multi_category) or changing data (sort_ships). I don't know where I could safely put removing data. Is this something many people would want? |

So you want to filter out the Ship names from the Character list?
I guess that is just ship2chat, but instead of adding it, it's removing it. |

Where could I find the file for FFF if I want to copy it - configuration, tweaks, ini snippets, etc. - to someplace else? Or should I just do it manually in the new library?

Calibre's "Switch/create Library" action offers you three options, if you choose "Create empty library" AND check "Copy structure", all of FFF's settings (stored in the library DB) will be copied.
See attached. |

This is something that I notice, but every time I update a fic, it deletes the width="100%" section that I added after downloading from the previous chapters.
Also, the names of the files I add change to the ffdl- naming after I update the fic after adding my higher-resolution images. (The images stay the same; just the name of the file changes after the fic update) Is that meant to happen? I am just a bit confused about why this is happening and if there is a way to have this stop. |

FFF strips html tag attributes that it isn't configured to keep, including width. See keep_html_attrs setting. FFF renames images to its own standard. There isn't an option not to. |

The default setup wouldn't be as big a deal for me if it was just repeating the two names from the fic's ship in the characters list. But some AO3 authors go a bit crazy with the tagging. Some of the worst offenders add like every canon pairing they can think of to the Relationships category and then all those names are repeated again in Characters and with that alone you can end up with super long title pages. It would be nice to be able to streamline. |

Thanks! I hadn't been convinced that would copy all plug-in settings, so I didn't try.

I'm reluctant to add a new code feature to remove ships 'characters' from characters for one user. Metadata handling is already a mess. |

AO3
I found something that seems to help me with downloading from archiveofourown. I found that my NordVPN was interfering when I try to download a story so I would pause it to download a story.

Issues with browser_cache_age_limit
Hi all,
I am having issues with being unable to download from Ao3. I am getting the error: HTTP Error in FFF 'Page not found or expired in Browser Cache (see FFF setting browser_cache_age_limit)'(428) URL:'https://archiveofourown.org/works/88755476/navigate?view_adult=true' Unsure if it's relevant but the title and author return as unknown when this happens. The browser cache will a second cached page about 10 seconds after the first. The download setting will also often hang on this message for at least a minute: My ini settings are: [archiveofourown.org] open_pages_in_browser:true use_browser_cache:true use_browser_cache_only:true username:##### password:##### is_adult:true I have tried: Experimenting with turning 'browser_cache_age_limit:1.0' on and off - no change Hunted through the wiki for solutions and tried out the various different solutions suggested to others having the 428 error Cleared my browser cache and search history Updated to the latest firefox, calibre and FFF versions It is not an issue with the internet connection or pc ram etc I've been trying to search for a solution for the last month or so and tried my best to make sure I'm not asking something that has been easily solved before. But no dice, so I'm finally posting here. Please help! |

Set the browser_cache_age_limit: to 4
That is what I used to have it work. |
