How do you deal with highlights in ebooks?

To save dictionary search words on a Kobo require My Words to be enabled. More => Beta Features => My Words.

I can import annotations into calibre but seldom bother to since my only real use for annotations/notes is when I am editing an ebook and mark errors and questionable passages. Once I've finished editing the ebook, those are toast.

I do highlights only for the purpose of correcting typos in a book so that I don't have to encounter them on my next read. I obviously only bother for books that I feel that I likely will re-read, otherwise, it's not worth it.

Once the corrections are made, the highlights are deleted.

If I was serious about annotating (which has never been my thing), I'd made the notes, then edit a copy of the ebook to put the highlights directly in it, for permanence.

Exporting highlights

After finishing a book, you can move it to a specific folder for archiving or processing purposes. Enable Move to archive plugin and set your target directory in the plugin’s settings (Set archive folder). After this, you can move a book to your archive folder using:

With a Quick Menu entry

On KOReader you can only directly view the notes of the currently opened book (under Bookmarks).
You can export multiple books' notes and then open the exported file in KOReader.

You can also use the software KoHighlights to view and export all your books' notes on your computer.
