I agree it should be rare, and it is, but my guess is whatever generate duplicate file paths, they won't just duplicate one or two files, they'll duplicate every HTML.

We already make a list in m_DuplicateFilePaths for each duplicate manifest file path so we can just build it when reading the manifest item and later create a batch single load warning after the entire OPF has been parsed.

I will add that to master once I get some time.

I have never once seen an epub like the one linked!

Regarding seeing recent items in the macOS dock, I have been using this change for the last few days and it does not seem to cause any issues. So I have now pushed this change to master. It will appear in the next release of Sigil.

This change has now been pushed to Sigil master. It will appear in the next release.

The problem with these new image format types is a lot of eBook software will have no idea what to do with them. Sure they may make the ePub smaller, but what good is smaller if the software can't handle it?

Not everyone will have the ability to switch to software that handles these image formats. That's going to be a problem.

It won't matter. No commercial epubs are going to contain these new images formats if they won't render on industry standard readers and apps. But if the spec supports using them, we have to at least consider planning future support for them in the event that they DO become standard some day. It's called preparation, Jon. Your worries here are utterly unfounded and misplaced. Please stop.

Is it feasible to change the "Change Case" functions to ignore tags? Currently, it fails silently if there are any tags within the selection, and it'd be nice to be able to select a block of text that has italics, spans, etc; or even select multiple paragraphs. Without changing the case within the tags, of course.

For example, if I select

Code:

one<i>two</i>

or

Code:

<p>one</p>
<p>two</p>

It doesn't work. It doesn't come up really often for me, but when it does, it can be really frustrating.

No, that is a safety feature in CodeView. It prevents tags from getting mangled. It is used in many places in CodeView. If you run into this issue often, then set up a saved search using the Python Function replace built in case converters as your replacement, and remember to check the Text box to restrict it to text not tags.

For those users interested in the "Advanced TOC Editing Features" asked for by icearch (read that multi-selection), I think I have finally gotten something that is testable, but that might be a bit flakey yet.

So I have not pushed those changes to Sigil master, but instead pushed them to my personal repo:

That repo is fully up to date with all the changes so far in Sigil master and just adds in the EditTOC changes.

So if you build your own, please pull and build from there and let me know of any issues or bugs in moving multiple selections in Sigil's TOC Editor.

If it seems to work, I will push those changes to regular Sigil master and they will be available in the next release.

Sigil-Enhanced has an image hover preview in the Book Browser. Hovering over an image shows a small preview together with its dimensions and file size.

I have adapted the current implementation against Sigil master here:

I, for one, think that functionality is nice. Our current implementation doesn’t show file size without having to dig down to “Get info”

This suggestion duplicates the recently added right-click > view functionality but it is quicker and easier for the user.

So I will give a vote for this as a sensible enhancement provided the code change doesn't have unintended consequences.

Please understand how this works. It replaces the standard QTreeView with its own BookViewTreeView that builds and maintains a cache of QImage scaled images and then tracks mouse enter and leave events and when the cursor enters an image name it prebuilds the the image (if not available in the cache) and show it with a QTimer.

All of the memory and code used for this is just to gain something that a single right click will show you right now, (either with View Image, or Get Info, etc.) as opposed to a hover.

I for one am not a fan of having the cursor inadvertently hover over an image and produce a thumbnail potentially disrupting my train of vision, just to save a single right click when I do want that info. If I need info on All Images, that is what the Image Report does and it can be saved to csv.

So unless this feature is viewed by current Sigil users as really really useful, the code behind it and its maintenance and its memory used (which does have the ability to be capped) is just not worth saving a single right click (which is hardly digging for anything), in my personal opinion. But my opinion can be changed.

If your opinion differs, now is the chance to convince me otherwise. Please say exactly why this is really useful to you. What it actually helps with. Why it helps. Etc.

Are you using it to find an image to insert? If so we have a tool that helps with that and already provides thumbnails that are user scalable

Are you using to look for strange image sizes (Reports can help with that), etc.

So what task or tasks is it actually helping with?
