@MrSilverstrike: Tried and and no issues so far on standard mode. It does not work on dark mode, but then again, dark mode is not officially supported on the Clara HD.

My Libra 2 works fine with it. Though it was on darkmode when I installed it and it's just laughably slow transitions in that mode ��.
I changed it to normal, of course.

Would it be possible to have the plugin automatically turn off in darkmode and turn itself on again in normal mode?

On the Libra 2 it's not working in Dark mode. It's working in Inverted mode, but you have to reboot every time after every switch.

Hmm... if it works on the Clara HD, would this suggest that other models like the Forma, Libra H2O, and Nia might also work? Many models from that era use the i.MX 6, in addition to the Libra 2 and the Clara HD.

If it works with the first Clara, it definitely should work with the Forma. They have the same display tech (Carta 1000). Not sure about the Nia, because that one is a really cheapened out model (under 100 quid / bucks offer), at least the CPU is slower and has less RAM, but the screen should be Carta as well.

Some older devices don't support the type of refreshes that the mod requires to get a quick refresh while retaining high quality greyscale display output, so you get degraded text output (often aliased) because the mod falls back to a supported refresh mode that does not flash the screen. But it depends on the platform, too.

Yeah, the worse CPU in the Nia seems dicey. If Carta 1000 is a minimum requirement, then potentially the Aura Ed. 2, Aura One, Aura H2O Ed. 2, Forma, and Libra H2O would be candidates, in addition to the Libra 2, Clara 2E, and Clara HD.

That's what confused me. The documentation implies that the mod won't work on a Clara HD, and yet we have confirmation that it does, so perhaps more models can be supported.

Apollyon202, have you looked at the logs to see if they indicate that you're getting proper REAGL refreshes? I assume you aren't seeing any quality degradation, since you didn't mention the mod making your refreshes look worse.

If you meant the logs of the Clara HD, I can check them later as my wife's using it.
I can see the difference between the two, the 3 year older Clara has a bit more ghosting than the Libra, but it's not a big deal.

If people are happy to get me logs and try experimental builds, I'd be happy to investigate expanding coverage for the mod to older devices, with one caveat: older models may degrade the quality of the final page text substantially, which is why I decided to not support older devices originally.

What you could also do for a bit more representative feedback is to post your project in r/kobo. That sub is flooded with users who have the 3 most recent Kobos, which is your actual target audience in this case. Here on mobileread you mostly find boomers who relentlessly stick with their old but gold BW models.
