Download Metadata Error
I have started getting an error when trying to download metadata. The metadata download was previously working, and I haven't changed anything.
Here is the full error message. I am using a mac OS 10.13.6 calibre, version 3.48.0 ERROR: Download failed: Failed to download metadata. Click "Show Details" to see details. It's becoming more and more difficult to download metadata. Sites are using protection to block the plugin from accessing the site. And Even if you can access the site, if you do it too many times in too short a period, you could be either temporarily blocked or your IP could be blocked.
Downloading metadata could be a thing of the past and you'd have to do it manually instead of a plugin to do it. |

Ignore step 1. Just Delete/Rename the metadata-sources-cache.json file.
This worked for me on Linux. |

In order to do step 1, I first had to go to the ...etc folder's properties and clear the read-only flag (had to click admin permission to do that), then I could edit (and save) adding the line to the "hosts" file, which seemed to be what was meant.
I also renamed the indicated .json file. Result: download metadata works again, but only if I do one at a time. |
