I recently added customizations for E-ink and lower powered Android devices. I would love to get feedback! Tell me whats Broken and what you would want to see.

LibriLink for Calibre is an app that pulls books out of a Calibre library stored on Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, WebDAV, iCloud, a local folder, or a Calibre Content Server, and gets them onto your device. It's not a reader you download and open in whatever you already use. I prefer Readest myself.

There's now an "E-ink & Low-Power Devices" section in Settings with three profiles: Low power, Monochrome E-ink, and Color E-ink. Picking one applies the settings that suit that panel:

- **Covers** render in grayscale on monochrome, keep original color on color e-ink, or hide entirely if you want the least work possible
- **Cover loading** is on-demand, visible-books-only, or background fill
- **Animations off**, so no fades, page transitions, or ink ripples leaving ghost trails
- **Paged navigation** instead of continuous scrolling, so the panel isn't doing constant partial redraws
- **Conservative sync**, plus a compact library layout that shows more books with fewer redraws

It tries to detect e-ink hardware automatically, but it can't reliably tell monochrome from color panels, so color is an explicit choice. Everything is individually overridable, and turning optimization off restores your previous settings rather than dumping you on defaults. The controls are shared with the normal Appearance and Sync sections, so they stay in step wherever you change them.

Underneath that, syncing was rebuilt for constrained hardware: resumable rebuilds, adaptive batch retry, a stall watchdog, and gentler cover fetching. This came out of a Boox Go user hitting an infinite spinner on a 7,000-book library. Libraries up to 80,000+ books now load without freezing.

Also, since e-ink devices are frequently the ones with 32GB of storage and an SD card: you can now set where downloads go, either one default folder or a different folder per library, with an option to save only to your folder and skip the in-app copy.

Tested mostly on Boox. If you're on Bigme, Meebook, a Pocketbook Android device, or anything else with a panel, I'd really like to know how it behaves.

It's on Google Play (also iOS/macOS, but the e-ink settings are Android-only for obvious reasons). Free tier covers Project Gutenberg, local Calibre folders, and OPDS catalogs including Komga and Kavita. Cloud libraries are a one-time $2.99 or $4.99, no subscription, no ads. There is a 2 week trial if you want to try out the cloud libraries.
