Converting Oxford Dictionary of English for iPhone to Mobipocket

Just wanted to tell you guys that it's possible to convert Oxford Dictionary of English for iPhone to a Mobipocket dictionary so that you can use it with your reader.

When you browse your iPod/iPhone's files (with iPhoneBrowser) you'll see this dictionary's file called app.db. It's a SQLite 3 database and can be easily converted to a CSV file with http://www.sqlite.org/download.html. Then there's a lot of work editing this CSV like deleting not needed columns and turning it to a tabfile. Then you need to replace non-standard tags to proper HTML ones (like <inf> to <b> etc.) I guess that all other iPhone dictionaries by Handmark are also convertable in this way. |

Surely you also need to add the special Mobipocket tags ("<idx:entry>", etc) in order to make it into a dictionary rather than merely a Mobipocket book, don't you?

Ah, you're right. I forgot about one thing.

After you turn the .csv to a tabfile you need to use tab2opf.py script. Then you should use the resulting .opf file with mobigen or Mobipocket Creator. |

Cambridge Advanced Learner's Talking Dictionary 2.1 for iPhone also has a SQLite 3 word database which means it's easily convertable to Mobipocket (or StarDict and other formats).
