OpenCC, fully offline.
Now in the official calibre catalog — install from the zip below or online plugin index. ---- Updates & downloads: - Community fork by Sheldon (Jun 2026). Mobileread - Public repo on GitHub: GitHub - Hopkins original: Mobileread ---- 3.11.1 highlights - Title-suffix output example now follows your selected target language (e.g. Simplified wording when converting to Simplified), instead of a fixed Traditional sample. ---- 3.11.0 highlights - Clearer settings labels and help text — easier to tell options apart (e.g. regional wording vs word segmentation). - First-run dialog: choose interface language right away. - Processing window: cleaner progress layout, less noisy log, better dark-theme contrast. - Optional MediaWiki post-processing for friendlier regional vocabulary (on by default; can turn off). ---- 3.10.1 highlights - Clearer Advanced options layout, with live example previews when you change quotation marks, bilingual modes, and similar settings. - New Lighter output option: Remove embedded font files — drops packed fonts for a smaller, faster book (readers use system fonts). - New Lighter output option: Remove image files from the book — drops illustrations and the cover for a near text-only book (Vision OCR is disabled while this is on). ---- 3.10.1 highlights - Optimize summary log display ---- 3.10.0 highlights - Bilingual mode is disabled by default; enabling it by default may confuse some novice users. - Supports preserving the original text in bilingual mode. - Supports customizing the font of the output text. ---- 3.9.2 highlights - When Jieba is initialized, OpenCC's STPhrases entries are written into its user dictionary to prevent such ambiguous phrases from being split up, thereby enhancing the stability of Simplified to Traditional Chinese conversion. This feature is only enabled after Jieba is set up. ---- 3.9.1 highlights - Fixed conversion that could rewrite data inside stylesheet blocks, which broke font selection after Trad/Simp conversion. - Update OpenCC to Latest-main branch's version(ahead of Publish version) Thanks to user w**0 for the report. ---- 3.9.0 highlights - Added a double check dialogue which use https://zhconvert.org/'s public API in menu - Change the rename logic using time stamp rather random characters Thanks for w**0's feedbacks. ---- 3.8.0 highlights - Added Forced Conversion: Coverage first, will replace all fonts if turn on the Bilingual Mode ---- 3.7.0 highlights - Added support for conversion after Jieba word segmentation, resulting in greater accuracy—thanks to the users who provided this feedback; - Added spacing between lines to make them easier to distinguish while reading; - Adjusted the file-saving logic to prevent errors in the Calibre list. ---- 3.6.0 highlights - Bilingual Mode supported: You can keep the source texts, when reading, you'll get full context between Traditional and Simplified. ---- 3.5.3 highlights Thanks for wxw0's feedback - Metadata conversion supported - Updated the latest OpenCC - Remove promotion's rename logic in Title, left a brief introduction in comments -- 3.5.2 highlights social URL in xiaohongshu -- 3.5.1 highlights - Added optional macOS Vision OCR for images in whole-book conversion, with a confirmation prompt for large jobs and a hideable progress window. - OCR runs in the background and is only offered when the local macOS Vision Framework supports it. - Library conversion stays responsive and now logs the saved file name and path for each new book. - Clearer Japanese Kanji labels, safer language checks, text-direction icons, and combo boxes that no longer change accidentally while scrolling. 3.5.0 highlights - New feature: Vision OCR only on macOS. When OCR is enabled, the system processes only the text found in images and adds it to the `alt` text; it does not insert the text into the main body content. This feature is currently in the testing phase and will undergo further optimization. 3.4.1 highlights - Added Hong Kong ↔ Taiwan Traditional conversion paths (hk2tw, tw2hk) and improved regional phrase-mode routing for HK/TW-focused outputs. - OpenCC resources were comprehensively refreshed to OpenCC ver.1.3.2 (synced from BYVoid/OpenCC, 1a7c529, Jun 2026), including updated configs and regenerated dictionaries. - Conversion logs now show OpenCC replacement statistics (total hits, unique pairs, top replacements), making rule effects easier to audit and debug. - Refined plugin About/onboarding presentation and multilingual copy for clearer feature positioning and release information. -- 3.3.0 highlights - Smarter defaults for quotes/punctuation from text direction and locales; clearer library conversion logs. - OpenCC dictionaries synced (BYVoid/OpenCC], 5d1eadd, Jun 2026); HK/TW phrase configs updated. From 3.2.0 (if upgrading): - library main toolbar action — Preferences → Toolbars & menus → The main toolbar → add Chinese Conversion. - UI: EN / 简中 / 繁中 (TW·HK). - Converts to a new library book; original unchanged. ---- Install 1. Preferences → Plugins → Load from file → chinese_text_conversion-version.zip 2. Restart calibre; add the toolbar button if needed. Requires calibre 6.0+. Thank you for providing the plugin. I am just curious, is it the only way to read the source code by unzipping the uploaded zip file? Is there any public git repository of the forked plugin?
Maybe I was wrong, I thought the link of git repository in above post is the original plugin. |

I made it public here: https://github.com/sheldonrrr/tradsimp Previously felt the project was a bit too small to be worth opening up. |
