I use a Logitech mouse (specific size that fits my hand, thumb buttons, wireless) but I can’t say I’ve ever looked at a mouse and gone “I wish it was lighter” - if anything, a heavier mouse feels more stable and easier to use somehow.

What Logitech is saying is...If you do not live in the EU, screw you.

Less repairable is only superior for Logitech's bottom line. If it's reparable, less people will replace their battery operated devices.

They can't make devices that have replaceable battery's that are not safe.

I'm wondering how easy it will be to get gray market EU mice in the US.

Will greymarket be necessary? Can't US residents create an EU country Amazon account and order?

This seems to be a hyper-competitive gamer thing. Not sure if it really makes a difference, I'm not playing any competitive multiplayer games, but it's overlapping with ultra specific gamer devices.

I'm fairly sure they could make unsafe mice if they wanted to.

Curious, I've had several logitech wrieless mice with replaceable batteries for years, and they seem safe to me.

That would make sense I guess. I am not a gamer so I just need the mouse for various office / work related tasks, so hyperspeed isn’t relevant.

I actually preferred the weight of my older Logitech MX mouse, which I think used rechargeable AA batteries, to my current one which needs recharging every now and again (it’s an old enough model to still have micro USB, too, but IIRC when I was last shopping around, newer same type mice wanted Bluetooth, which my desktop computer doesn’t come equipped with).

Anyway, it’ll be interesting to see how different companies will approach this requirement, I guess. Some like Logitech which have a gazillion different models / products anyway might well opt for different products for different markets, but I sort of doubt the mainstream e-reader brands available in the Western world (as in unlike those that are specifically intended for the Chinese / wider Asian market) sell in quantities big enough to warrant that sort of differentiation - and the EU as a whole should be a large enough market that, say, Amazon, Rakuten Kobo or Onyx Boox wouldn’t really be able to ignore it completely...

The only mice I see these days that do not have an easily replaceable battery are USB chargeable mice.

But, if may I say, them old mices are still on sale, on Amazon a G502 Hero is like at -46%, so euro 32.91, since more than a year ago - iirc.
Pardon the OT, but if someone doesn't need a wireless one, and considering that mices are like the byciles' seats (e.g. a personal choice), I won't say it's all crap.
If you mean at their "mechanical keyboards", too, those are attempts (not even that badly made - they patented some kind of switches that ain't fully crap - imho) like others' brands did, selling "mechanical keyboards" on shops @ 80$ or more, that are almost, yes, crap.
Sorry again for the OT.

I don't understand...I buy Logitech Mice and Keyboards all the time, and they have user replaceable batteries. You can buy ones that are rechargeable, but I don't have any interest in those. I'm basically buying them for clueless users, who definitely couldn't be trusted to plug them in when needed, and then I would be getting a call to "come fix it". With replaceable batteries I just have to make sure that all locations have a stock of batteries, and as soon as the battery is changed the device will work.

Besides...the non-rechargeable ones are generally MUCH cheaper, and have the same overall life span as the rechargeables.
