I would still use KOReader for better community suport and more customization, though you likely won't have problems with either one. Last edited by dandaman; 06-01-2026 at 05:06 PM. |

Neither is really ePub3 compatible. KOReader has a bit better support but both do not use the NAV document so you must ensure toc.ncx is present. They also fail my fixed layout ePub test.

I tried to use the autoload scripts to install KOReader on my Clara via my Mac, running MacOS 26.4.1 (Tahoe). My Mac steadfastly refuses to open the script. There is no app which I have on my machine that will open it: Terminal, BBEdit, Excel, Word, Notes, Nova, Numbers, Obsidian, Pages, Preview, TestEdit, Ulysses -- nothing. Ideas? Punt?

Hello, I can't run the auto script in Powershell, I can see some red text and then the window is gone in the blink of an eye... I'm on Windows 11 if that matters, what can I do?
Alternatively I wanted to do the manual one click installation but I don't understand What I'm supposed to do for the thing with the nix files... When I click on the link provided in the first post of this thrade it takes me to a file in github with some lines highlighted... What should I do with this? I'm stumped since I was previously able to jailbreak my Kindle and install Koreader on it, and I thought on a Kobo it would be easier but apparently not for me! |

Can I just say thank you for this note.
I was tripping up at this step and I'm not sure I would have figured it out. *Apologies, first time poster. This was in response to Zann re powershell. Last edited by frihetsmanen; 07-10-2026 at 07:11 AM. Reason: clarity |

Hi NiLuJe,
I'm seeing the "[KFMon] Internal storage unavailable, bye!" message consistently at every shutdown on my Kobo Libra Colour. I pulled the kfmon_dump.log and traced through it, wanted to share in case it's useful. Device: Kobo Libra Colour, FW 4.45.23697, Linux 4.9.77 KFMon version: v1.4.6-191-gca31869 The log shows the same sequence at every power-off: 1. Onboard storage unmounts (koreader.png watch tripped IN_UNMOUNT) 2. KFMon stops listening and begins waiting for the mountpoint to return 3. It checks 6 times over about 11 seconds 4. Storage never remounts (because the device is actually shutting down) 5. KFMon logs "Too many mountpoint changes without finding our target (shutdown?), aborting!" and exits, printing the on-screen message This happens identically at every shutdown, not intermittently, so it looks like KFMon is correctly detecting a shutdown but still surfacing this as an on-screen error message rather than treating it as expected behaviour. I understand from the README that error messages are always shown regardless of the with_notifications setting, so there's currently no way to suppress it via config. Given the device is powering off anyway, is there any appetite for either suppressing the message specifically for this "probable shutdown" case, or shortening the retry window so the message doesn't linger on screen as long? Thanks for all your work on this, it's a brilliant tool. |

Uninstall KFMon. You don't need it. You can use NickelMenu to launch KOReader and/or Plato.
