I generally use them as placeholders for books I will end up getting. I have "Maybe" and the "To Read" in Goodreads holding the books I don't have but might want or DO want to get, the Goodreads Sync plugin puts them in Calibre where they sit in judgement or get ignored until I use the record to search them out or look them up on other sites. Its easier to have the record because of the Internet Search plugin relies on the book to do the search. No book means manually typing in the name and hunting down each site...no thankyou!

Ok, so I have some questions about how the plugin grabs reviews, and displayes them because It basically shows me reviews that are hidden behind spoilers and doesn't tell me.

Im guessing it chooses the "most liked" or something because that was the one shown to me that basically is filled with the "twist at the end" spoilers.

Perhaps indicating to the plugin to not show reviews with spoilers? OR - run it in a way that preserves the spoiler tags?

Also - just wondering what are the ways the review gets chosen to be seen in the plugin? If I had a choice of looking at the higher rated reviews vs the critical reviews it would be helpful. I was looking at 8 reviews for a book that supposedly is a best seller, and every review should have been behind spoiler tags - and there were either no star ratings, or 2 star ratings.

Welp, I'll think about it. There's currently no logic in place to preserve spoiler tags, indeed. Perhaps add some blurred styling whenever the Spoiler tag is found.

Filtering critical reviews is more doable, but I sense this kind of filtering must be done directly on the website, so I suggest visiting the website source of such reviews; some sources might provide this sort of filtering.

For Goodreads and Hardcover, the plugin queries the book's data feed / cache and sorts extracted reviews in descending order by likeCount (number of likes / helpful votes), taking the top 8 unique entries. For Amazon and other sources, it fetches the default "Top Reviews" / most helpful reviews as returned by the storefront.

Why This Causes Spoilers to Surface: Because top-liked reviews are frequently in-depth analyses written by readers who have finished the book, they are much more likely to discuss major plot points and end-of-book twists.

- New source: Global Grey Ebooks
- Review finder now has a dropdown to reverse the sorting of reviews: this aims to provide an alternative display mode for the reviews listing that reduces chances of seeing major spoilers - which are more often found in higher ranked reviews.
- Appending Blurbs & Reviews to custom columns is now supported, but this feature has not been extensively tested.
