I keep getting a 428 error whenever I try to download stuff. I added the browser cache thing for chrome and

slow_down_sleep_time:4

open_pages_in_browser:true
browser_cache_age_limit:-1

but I'm not able to download stories now

Also, when doing the open a browser thing, is it normal for it to open 4 tabs?

If it's AO3, yeah, three or four tabs per story. Story index, first chapter, full work is what I've noticed (plus probably specific to my settings, a tab for each embedded image). For FFN, at least last time I did it, it would open every chapter.

I had this issue too, I had to create new browser profile to solve a weird issue. But FFF cache was still using the old profile.

With both ffn and ao3, I tried using the browser cache method, but FFF just opens the chapter index (for ao3) or first page (FFN) twice and then stops and gives a 428 error. I don't really know what I'm doing wrong here... I've set the correct cache path.

If you're on a mac, you'll also need to change the openers_by_scheme tweak. Follow the instructions in this post.

Okay, so when I download, which it's still not downloading the story for me, it opens like two tabs of the story index

Most common cause is a mistake in the browser_cache_path setting. Wrong browser, wrong profile, something like that.

There are also security features / add-ons that can cause problems. Example from wiki.

I've been having an issue where updating from email keeps either running forever without progress, or it gives me this error message. Two factor authentication has been on for the gmail account for years, as is the app password.

For works on AO3 whose authors changed to "orphan account", how do I maintain the old author on the page itself? For metadata, I have "Author(s)" set to New Only, but I'm not sure how to keep that value in the epub itself. Though it would be much better if it only maintained the old author value if the new one is "orphan_account".

That's a network error. Either because of outage or blocking.

There's nothing FFF can do about it. You can try changing to a different network or VPN, or changing your external IP (like rebooting a home cable modem).

In general, it's not an ongoing problem--once orphaned a work will never be updated again. It should only be an issue when an author adds chapter(s) and orphans a work in quick succession.

So it's really only a problem once per work. How often are you seeing this? My understanding is that orphaned works are quite rare.

This might be possible if it's something people see regularly. But FFF will only have the past author info if you already had include_logpage on during the previous update. Customizable titlepage means FFF can't read it back.

- adapter_asianfanficscom: Fixes for major site changes

Site changes were significant and complex.

• Site specific option inject_chapter_title is removed, doesn't seem to be needed anymore.
  
• Site specific option auto_sub is not working at this time. I think the network request wants more headers, but FFF doesn't currently have a good way to do that. FFF will error and tell you to manually subscribe to stories that require it.
  
• Site's version of characters is one string instead of the usual list due to the site allowing authors to apparently put whatever there. So characters will not be sorted on title page, weird separators as chosen by the author may appear, and trying to use replace_metadata as usual may not work.
  
• Added comments count to go with existing upvotes, subscribers, views.
