Jimi closed the festival, due the hard weather instead of playing at 23:00, the stage got forwarded till 8 am; and thought there were maybe 30,000 persons half asleep watching.

Has anyone noticed in the years after Woodstock the number of people who claimed to have attended was a lot larger than the actual attendance?

I had a group of 6 friends who decided to head for Woodstock. They jammed themselves and their gear into a VW Transporter and headed cross-continent. Today, they likely would have been turned back at the border. Then, they were basically waved through. Many of their memories of Woodstock were of attempting to stay awake in the rain.
