I'm getting sick of the neighbors' visitors who insist on parking smack in the middle of curb area where two cars could easily fit, so no other car can fit in front or behind them. And each of their visitors do it, so each car blocks all the available street parking in front of the neighboring houses. One of those houses being mine.

Could be worse. A person I used to work with came home one evening and found a car parked in their two-car garage. They parked, closed and locked the garage door and went off to bed. At 3:30 in the morning, they woke up to loud knocking on the door. When they answered the door, they found two police officers and a 30-ish woman. She claimed he was maliciously blocking access to her car. After some back and forth, one of the police officers asked why she had parked in someone else's garage without their permission. The answer was the neighbour she was visiting said it would be okay. "Is it their garage? Well, no but they said it would be okay." After a few more minutes in which the police explained the concept of private property and trespassing, the woman was allowed to remove her car from the garage and depart. The next day, the neighbour was rather upset that he had locked her car in instead of asking around the neighbourhood to see whose car it was.

I think I've heard most of that story before, but that last part, OMFG, that person needs a boot to the head.

I recall a similar story, except once the guest moved their car, the police arrested them for drunk driving.

I fell over, didn't injure myself - but couldn't stand up, called 000 (i.e. 911/999) for an ambulance. After a brief stay in A&E I was admitted to a geriatric ward where I contracted C19.

I was put into isolation for a week and half… a runny nose and some congestion were the only symptoms. I had C19, flu and rsv shots a few weeks ago. I was a Novid.

Anyway I'm home now, feeling a bit wobbly from neuropathy, but not as achy as I was before. Being in quarantine all I had to do was physio exercises… trying to stand on one leg, sits up, and squats etc. Being alone 24x7 doesn't bother me.

While I was there, someone entered my 'apartment' and stole some shoes, my top coat, nail clippers, kitchen scissors, paper towels and other sundry items… weird. I think I know who, and how they were able to enter… sigh.

Glad you're OK now. Last year roughly this time, I was in hospital for a hip replacement. I had a fall on a very solid surface and fused by hip bones. I was able to walk around for about 3 weeks before I could not do it any more, I wasn't alone. I was in a ward. My wife brought me my iPad and Kobo so I wasn't bored.

If I knew who it was that robbed me, I'd be calling the police.

I'm glad to hear your back, really sorry to hear about the set of circumstances that led to it, and the apartment break-in. I hope you can resolve that satisfactorily, somehow.

Thanks guys. Although the ward was labelled "Geriatric", the patients in adjacent cubicles were considerably younger than me, at a guess two were less than half my age.

Re the robbery, my prime suspect is the property owner's son who has issues with his mental health.

We went down the shore to our favorite seafood place as we do at least once a season for our summer birthdays. 1 hour drive, 1 hour wait for a table, as expected. Stopped in their little 2 stall restroom and noticed something new: a cheesey plastic "TIPS" jar on the sink.
I looked around for an attendant, not that there was room for one, and look around to see if they added some kind of amenities. Nope. I asked the hostess why there was a tip jar in the bathroom. She said "because we have people who come in to clean it."

yeah, you're a restaurant. I hope you do.
My wife and daughter come to this place especially for the snow crab legs. I realize there is a snow crab shortage so we were disappointed but not too surprised to find they were no longer on the menu. But wait, they are on the specials list! At $65 for 1.25lbs! Yikes. Well, it's a special occasion so we got one order.
They were anemic and over salty. Here's a thought: if it's impossible to get good snow crab for now, how about DON'T put them on the specials list at twice your regular price.
So disappointed, but the state of snow crab fisheries is not their fault, and all the seafood is good here.
But wait! Every one of our other dishes was bland and under seasoned (I guess all the salt went on the crab legs). I had to use table salt and pepper to get any flavor for the first time in 20.years of coming here. And the food was dumped on the plates without any of the style they've always shown in the past.
I asked the waitress if there was new owners or cooks or anything and she said no. She asked if we wanted to see a manager and we said no. She said she'd pass our comments on anyway.
Personally, if I was a manager and got comments like that, I'd stop by the table anyway, requested or not. No one did.

Oh well. Time to find a new restaurant. I guess there's plenty of fish places near the sea.
For seafood like this we could have gone 5 minutes from our house to Red Lobster at half the price.

I've acquired neuropathy just this year too. I've found some creams that do seem to make a difference. I can enumerate them, if you want to try any.

Please do, any port in a storm.

It's not so much the stiffness and loss of tactile sense that bothers me, it's the loss of balance… and the consequent inability to negotiate stairs and broken footpaths/sidewalks/pavements etc.

I'm over this weather. It seems that every week/10 days there's another (near) heatwave. Today and tomorrow it'll be over 30℃, again. Luckily this time it doesn't last as long; by Thursday temperatures have dropped to 22℃. Add to that that at work the air conditioning isn't working properly and in the area I work in it's 25℃-27℃ every day. It's getting to be a bit much.

At least over the weekend the temperatures will be nice, but some are predicting the next hot weather for next week already.

I'm really looking forward to autumn weather, even if it means more rain.
