You would have to extract the MSIXKFXArchiverMobi1_18632.exe from the version 10.0.27 DeDRM_tools.zip archive and copy it to where ever you want to run it from. Since I personally use a batch file to run it, I copy the executable to the Data directory and rename the executable copy to KFXArch.exe to match the filename in the batch file. |

The reason I wrote my messages was to present counter-evidence showing that Epubor did not steal satsuoni's tool. Even if they had, they could modify the code themselves. I think this is safer than relying solely on satsuoni.
I can say that Epubor did copy the "KFX Input" plugin, since the converted EPUB files are identical. However, they are allowed to do so because "KFX Input" is released under the GPL license. |

I mean, I unpacked their demo exe, and the executable made from my code (recompiled, I think?) was right there, complete with typos in my log messages, so they use the code at least. Without changing it much, if at all. That said, they can, sometimes, do their own stuff, as they did for Mac, if Reddit is to be believed. They just rarely bother.

epubor's motto is why write our own code when we can steal it and sell it.

They can still sell it, but they would also have to make the complete source available so anyone can use it without buying it. |

The problem with epubor is that they don't acknowledge that they are built on open source freely available tools.

I'm sorry if this has been covered elsewhere but after reading this thread every day for the last few months and a fair bit of searching I don't have any clarity on this specific problem.
My wife's Oasis (10th generation) is on Firmware 5.18.2 and is usually in airplane mode but now she's got some new books to add to it so needs to take it back online, albeit for a short period. In it's current form it works with Calibre (in line with page 1 of this thread) but I'm worried that an OTA upgrade will disable that. So what's the best approach that will download her new books without breaking anything? I seem to recall that filling up the Kindle (in her case that's adding almost 27GB) may help. Or is it a lost cause? I'd prefer not to jailbreak if at all possible. Many thanks for all the help so far and hoping for a good answer here! |

As far as I know, so far, the Oasis 3 on 5.18.2 has not been touched like other models. Some models got actual firmware updates and other models were touched by diagnostic code exploits to harden drm. But, I believe the Oasis 3 is actually still untouched.
That said...I can't test with my OA3 right now because my mom is reading some KU books on it that I've already returned. So I can't put it on wifi til she's done. So I can't guarantee things haven't changed in the last couple weeks. But I haven't heard of the OA3 being touched so far. The instructions for filling the disk are: https://kindlemodding.org/jailbreaki...t-auto-update/ |
