Thank you, DNSB, for providing the right image file for my Kobo revival project. It turned into quite a project, so I thought I'd share my experience in case it helps someone else following the same path.

- Starting point: Kobo Clara 2E stuck in a reboot loop. The indicator light was flashing, the reset button didn't help, and the device didn't appear in Windows when connected to a PC. There was nothing left to do except wait for the battery to drain completely, which I did.
- Analysis: Either the internal microSD card was corrupted or the software on it had become unusable. Starting with a fresh image seemed like the best course of action.
- Opening the back cover with a guitar pick was fairly easy. Removing the protective film covering the SD card using isopropyl alcohol, cotton swabs, a ball-head pin, and pliers was also straightforward.
- Removing the microSD card itself was the hardest part because there wasn't enough room to grip it properly. The trick that worked was gently pushing the card out with a ball-head pin inserted between the connector end of the card and the metal slot. Push, wiggle, push, wiggle.
- Cleaned the card and connected it to the PC. The third imaging program I tried finally worked—the others either couldn't read the image file or failed while writing it. Rufus successfully wrote the image in about 30 minutes.
- Reinstalled the SD card, closed the case, and connected the charger. No indicator light, and nothing happened when pressing the power button. I had read that a fully discharged Kobo can sometimes take a while to recover, so I left it charging overnight.
- The next morning there was still no indicator light and no response.
- I started wondering if the battery or its protection circuitry (BMS) had entered an error state. I disconnected the battery from the motherboard, hoping it would reset the BMS. This turned out to be the actual fix. The important part was leaving the battery disconnected long enough. My first attempt lasted about two minutes and didn't help. On the second attempt, I left it disconnected for about 30 minutes. Reconnected the battery... and, bloody hell, it worked right away. My Kobo was finally back to its original state.

Summary of the recovery steps:

- Open the Kobo and remove the internal microSD card.
- Write a fresh Clara 2E image to the card using a working imaging tool (Rufus worked for me).
- Reinstall the card and reassemble the device.
- If the Kobo still appears completely dead after charging, disconnect the battery from the motherboard for about 30 minutes, then reconnect it and try powering it on.

Hi all,

I was after a Kobo mini and Glo image please. I have managed to save them from the old devices (suspected bad sd cards) but am not having any luck. The Glo gets stuck on the login and the mini doesnt get past flashing its light. Hoping a fresh image gets me over the line. Open to suggestions though.
