Thank you BetterRed. I'm wading through the documentation and it looks like it will solve my problem. It looks like it will take a bit of time to get it into the format that I envision, but I'll give it a shot.
I will probably back with more questions.

If you want to jump to authors with a last name starting with S for example, I would just expand the Authors list in the tag browser and click on the appropriate item.

Thanks David. I am just starting to learn about the tag browser. Your illustration is the result I am looking for.

BetterRed, the screenshot of the tag browser settings is a big help. Before I use it though, I need to continue going through the explanation in the manual to better understand it.

The FanFicFare plugin introduced (at least to me) a count of chapters column as #chapters.
But now I have a problem that all other books, which I added into library with a standard "Add books" functionality has an empty cell in the #chapters column.

Is there a plugin to count chapters in the book and fill a custom column with that info?

If you have EPUB format, this chain works well to populate a custom column:

Just create an Integers column. I have mine set to ToC nodes, lookup tocn.

Thank you. It works!

I do not always have EPUB files, but nothing stops from adding "convert" action to the start of the chain if there is no EPUB yet.

Also, are these kinds of plugins even allowed?
